Agua Lugano — Restaurant in Circolo di Lugano ovest

The location of the restaurant is great.. perfect spot to enjoy a cosy dinner or a cup of coffee with direct view on the lake. The staff are welcoming and friendly.. and the outdoor seating is very comfy and chic. However, we found the food barely mediocre! From the looks of the menu, vibe and prices, we set high expectations for the quality and taste of the food. We started our order with fresh orange juice- that came in a hot cup with no ice. Then, we ordered a salad as an appetizer- technically a ceasar salad: it was good and tasty ( pretty much the reason behind the 2-stars rating). We ordered for the main course a chicken dish and a beef dish. Both portions were very little and barely had seasoning or texture. The chicken was cooked nicely but didnt have a dominating taste- lacks a whole lot of seasoning! The beef dish was the most disappointing- we ordered it medium well and it came medium rare. The meat was cold- I understand the meat rests after cooking, but this was left for a loooong rest. Again the dish lacked texture and seasoning- to the extent you are not sure if what you are eating is really meat. The presentation wasn't appetizing at all.. instead of showing the steak as the star of the dish, the grilled vegetables were overtaking the plate.

For an appetizer and 2 main courses and a cup of juice we paid 106 CHF. I honestly didn't get my expected value of money at this place. So not...

Well it was right across from Lake Lugano and the view was amazing. So we decided to stop in. The average score was poor and the long time google reviewers were rather severe, but it was packed. So I broke my rule and we ate here. It was not the best experience. The paste and pork cheek bacon was more like American Mac & Cheese. I am serious and the pork cheek bacon was so hard it could not be eaten. The tuna tartare was good and fresh but it had an overpowering lemony taste. I had to add olive oil to calm it down. I hope I do not get sick in 24 hours. The pasta was al dente and had good texture but the yellow cheese sauce tasted like velveeta. I asked for a small plate for the bread and the manager pretended not to know what I was saying, so I asked in Italian. He continued to pretend not to understand. My friend said it in Spanish and in very good English he said, “why do you need a small plate”. I replied, for the bread. He took a plate from another table, put it down and walked away. Unprofessional waiter just made us feel extremely uncomfortable. We came together with husband and ordered breakfast two times (that’s logical, yes? Two people = two orders). He brought one breakfast and tried to ask how we’re going to share it: coffee is for….? Juice is for….? And put one muffin between us (should we share one muffin, or what?)

We tried to get his attention to ask about breakfast for second person, but it was impossible.

Of course I couldn’t eat and look how my husband are waiting for his food

So, when we got an attention of this waiter, he even didn’t apologize! We were waiting quite a lot to get the second breakfast.

That’s not a fast food place. Service is awful for such a restaurant with a perfect location.

Food was really good, but this unprofessional waiter destroyed the atmosphere of Sunday morning
