FLAMEL Restaurant & Mixology Bar in Lugano / Lake Lugano / Switzerland is a very modern restaurant in the heart of the ancient city of Lugano. It is designed in a modern scandinavian bistro style and you feel there as guest very well and relaxed. There are also many locals from Lugano as guests. The service is very professional, laid back and attentive. We were there for lunch. The food was very good, with regional products, made in a modern style of cooking. We had for example Spaghetto - durum wheat spaghetti, prawns, lemon, butter and bread crumble - and Galetto - an organic honey-glazed Swiss cockerel, roasted new potato and mustard emulsion -. Both dishes were light, tastefull, well seasoned and very well prepared and cooked. The vanilla crème brûlée for dessert was simple but very well done and delicious. The suggested wine - in this case the white house wine, a white Merlot Castello di Cantone - got very well with our lunch and food. All in all a very nice restaurant with a fair price for very good food. Justifiably recommended by the Guide Michelin....
Read moreI was disappointed after visiting FLAMEL to celebrate a special occasion. While I believe this is probably a great restaurant to go to for a bite to eat as a hotel guest, it seemed that they were punching above their weight in both service and food quality to offer a tasting menu and wine pairing.
Most notably, one of the courses was just an extremely crumbly bread. While it was decent bread, it made a mess on the table which was never cleaned by waitstaff and brought the ambience down overall. Additionally, the wine/mixology pairing didn't make much sense, as we were offered a sweet cocktail first followed by a dry wine. In general, the courses were not/poorly explained, and they were either underwhelming (one cracker served with a watery dip) or scaled down versions of their main menu (risotto). I would recommend to order off the a la carte menu, and not waste time with the tasting one, as we had to go to another restaurant afterwards for some...
Read moreFantastic new restaurant in Lugano, offering a varied, creative and high-quality menu.
We visited Flamel excited to see the renovations to the well-known hotel Dante. The menu was appealing and whilst sometimes hesitant visit hotel restaurants (as the atmosphere can be a bit stale), we decided to give it a go.
The food was exceptional, from the welcome nibbles through to dessert. We had the lamb and steak dishes as our mains, the latter being particularly noteworthy. We felt the restaurant struck a great balance between being novel and serving interesting dishes, but not forgetting the basics (and also maintaining good portion sizes!). On top the service could not be faulted.
Prices were 65chf each for a starter and main, desserts at 15chf. Considering the quality of the food (primarily the main courses), we thought this was...
