We did a day trip to Lugano and stayed at Gabbani Hotel and had dinner at Gabbani Ristorante.
Between the two of us, we each had a starter and a pasta, a glass of Riserva Gabbani, Merlot, Cabrini Ferrari, Ticino 2021, an espresso doppio and a chamomile tea for 150€.
Salmon tartare with ginger, avocado, Hokkaido pumpkin with soy and sesame and sansho pepper crumble - so many different textures that went together so well. Taste wise, it was fresh, tangy and that sansho pepper crumble added a little kick’
Buffalo mozzarella, oregano datterini tomatoes and basil cream - the tomatoes were so fresh!
Durum wheat tagliatelle with salted smoked butter, crispy guandale bacon and smoked Caconcotta cheese - I can’t stop raving about this! Tossed the pasta, coating in with the smoked butter and the smokiness came through throughly.
Durum wheat semolina spaghetti "agliooliopeperoncino", red prawn sauce and fried bread - that red prawn sauce, it was so good, we wiped it all up with more bread!
All in all, we enjoyed our meal very much! And Gabbani will be our regular dinner spot every...
Read moreWe came to Gabbani with a three-year-old child to try the Wednesday aperitif buffet that they promote on their website. When we arrived, a waiter told us that the tables outside are reserved as a priority for people who want to dine. He told us that we could take a secluded table at the back of the restaurant or go up to the fourth floor. We went up to the fourth floor but we did not understand why the waiter sent us to the bar upstairs when our goal was to try the buffet. On the way back down I asked to book for next Wednesday for the buffet and the waiter replied in an unfriendly and disdainful manner that we could not book for the buffet. He let us go without finding a solution. So I wonder why they promote their aperitif buffet if they don't take responsibility behind it and throw away the customers who come especially for it. We come to Lugano every year so we were disappointed not to try this supposedly recommended place. After this bad experience, we returned to "L'aqua" our favorite place in Lugano where the service is much nicer with a view...
Read moreI frequently visit Gabbani restaurant for breakfast or lunch, and it has generally been a delightful gourmet experience. However, my recent visit at the beginning of the week was disappointing. I ordered a croissant and a cappuccino, both of which I was looking forward to. Unfortunately, the croissant was extremely hard and clearly old—definitely not fresh as one would expect from a gourmet establishment. I couldn’t eat it, which was quite disappointing.
After paying for my order, I informed the waitress about the issue. Instead of addressing my concern, she simply stated, “the croissants are fresh every day” and proceeded to pick up the phone, leaving me unattended. This felt quite rude and dismissive, and it certainly detracted from my overall experience.
While I appreciate the quality of Gabbani and have enjoyed many meals there, I hope they can improve their customer service and ensure that all their offerings meet the high standards...
