Hop Sushi Rive 🍣 — Restaurant in Geneva

The food was tasty and well presented, HOWEVER waiting 70 minutes for it is unacceptable. If the hostess had informed us of such a long delay when we arrived, we would have left. Instead, after asking several times, all she said was ‘it’s coming,’ with no explanation or apology. Poor communication really ruined what could have been an enjoyable dining experience.

Edit: I've changed the 2 stars to 1 star because of the harassment we received via WhatsApp and email, pressuring us to remove our review. The argument about the reservation is irrelevant, as we saw people arriving without a reservation who were still welcomed. In addition, our reservation was made through The Fork, and we modified it on the spot with online approval — so there was nothing exceptional done on your part.

Friday night, another rain squall just as we entered the well-lit “Hop Sushi” restaurant situated just five minutes’ walk from Rive. We had reserved for our party of four and were warmly welcomed by Christelle who installed us at a window table. Ice cold Kirin beer was first, followed by a small starter salad, then an attractively laid out plate of sashimi. This was followed by a large array of nigiri sushi (my favorite) and makis. The fish was fresh and tasty and the rice cooked and shaped to perfection. All was prepared superfresh by the chef Jeremie. We finished with a variety of rolls and gyozas – beautiful and very tasty. Great service with a friendly and attentive waitress. The food was delicious and well presented with pretty ceramic sets.
