Marcel Eaux-Vives — Restaurant in Geneva

Rudest service person ever! We are in Geneva for Holidays and were looking for a nice place to brunch. On the internet we found this place so we went there right away. It was completely packed when we got inside, there was just one table in the corner that was free. There was no “reserved” sign or anything. We waited a little but when nobody came we moved towards the table, in that moment a small really thin lady with curly hair came to me and was the rudest service person I’ve ever experienced. She came like a barking dog; There was no “good morning” or “hi welcome to Marcel”, nothing, but telling me that we can’t sit on a table without going to her first. Well little lady maybe it’s your job to actively get in contact with the clients. If your somewhere behind the bar, how do we know? That’s YOUR JOB. Anyways she was speaking super fast in French and could see that I wasn’t speaking French very well, but she didn’t care. She told me again, that we can’t do this. So I asked her “so you have a table for three” looking towards the table that clearly was free. Her response (in French obviously): „Yes, but it will not be worth because in half an hour it will be full.“ That‘s it, she wasn‘t even giving us another option or saying sorry. When I told her we will search another place she was just like „ok“, there was no good bye, nothing. I don’t know who this lady was, but she has clearly no idea how to do her job. I walked by this new place and thought I'd try it, but was left dissapointed.

On arrival it took some time to be seated as the waitress was quite literally analysing her bookings sheet.

We ordered a glass of Sauvignon and two glasses of red turned up (it happened to be a Sauvignon but the waitress had not checked if we wanted the white or red).

Now, the glorified Picard like fish & chips surfaced from the sea. An overcooked breadcrumbed creature "graced" my plate. One thing's for sure, I felt sorry for the cod that had given up its life for this.

The waitress collected my plate, dropped the tartare sauce who exploded on the floor and then I asked for my meal to be changed and ordered the ribs (I thought, how wrong can you go with ribs?!). Well you can, they were so dry that even the BBQ sauce could not rescue them.

The manager then rocked up and said she had tried both dishes and that nothing was wrong with them ( I somewhat felt that she was extremely biased). Constructive feedback was given but she took it personally and did not actually take the comments onboard - oh well!

To conclude, the food needs vast improvements, the staff could be more knowledgeable and lacked experience (forgot to put bread on the table and we had no water). Would I try it again? probably not.
