Royal Karoma — Restaurant in Geneva

I came in for a (relatively) quick morning coffee and ended up spending almost an hour here (unfortunately). The Italian vibe is very real here with Pantone everywhere and vintage photos of coffee lovers lining the walls. Lots of people in here, which makes it a bit of a chaotic experience, but lots of staff working so what’s the worst that could There’s a great selection of coffees (many styles of macchiato, for example, which is what i ordered). The coffee was great, but expensive and the pastries were okay (not winning any awards). However, after ordering (which was a bit of a chaotic mess in itself due to the busyness), I waited ALMOST 40 MINUTES FOR A COFFEE, as I kept making eye contact with the wait staff to impress the fact I was waiting. As I saw more and more people served that came in after me, finally had to just walk up to the counter and ask, which I felt rude doing, but my god… I didn’t want to spend my whole day there. Honestly, good coffee, but terrible...

🔸Ambiance, terrasse, places, etc. 🔸⤵️ Places type bar ou classiques + terrasse, donne envie d'y entrer, quelques idées de quoi manger sur ces panneaux en hauteur sinon il faut voir à l'entrée. Nous avons été accueillies et le serveur est venu à notre place. Nous sommes restées 2h30 avec une toute petite commande donc très sympathique. Il n'y avait pas trop de monde entre 11:00 et 12:30 puis c'est devenu un peu bruyant à mon goût. Ambiance chaleureuse, simple. Pasticceria italiana avec le plaisir de discuter quelque peu en italien avec les serveurs. Serveurs très gentils.

🔸Cuisine/Cibo e bevande/Food and drinks🔸 ⤵️ Il y a du salé pour contenter tout le monde et tous les appétits. Pour notre part nous n'avons pris que du sucré. Des choses simples, pas de chichis : panettoni, sfogliatelle, croissant,... 5 jus de fruits (pomme, orange, ananas, abricot, multivitaminé), divers cafés, chocolats chauds et autres boissons habituelles d'un petit-déjeuner.

J'ai commandé una sfogliatella excellente, un café viennois qui manquait quand même de "topping" (il n'y avait que peu de chantilly et aucune petite touche avec des pépites de chocolat comme vu sur des photos) mais c'était très bon. Le jus d'abricot n'était sans nulle doute pas un jus pressé frais mais à nouveau c'était bon.

🔸Prix/Prices/Prezzi🔸 19.00 CHF pour le café, les jus, la viennoiserie et le croissant ➡️Une dizaine de francs par personne. Chez Royal Karoma, en regard des prix élevés de Genève, c'est tout à fait correct. De plus, nous payons l'ambiance et le service ainsi que les spécialités italiennes. 😋

🔸 Suggestions/suggerimenti 🔸: Pour un très bon petit-déjeuner/a delicious breakfast/una buonissima collazione : Misez sur la grande diversité de cafés autres que des viennois, allongé, etc., le tout accompagné de viennoiseries italiennes !

I had one of the most mediocre and expensive coffees in my life here. I didn't have much expectations but price is killing me. Cappuccino for 9 CHF.

Nothing special at all and I honestly don't understand where the price is coming from.

UPDATE (after owner's response): It's interesting how I'm asked to do more work and contact someone else because I shared a feedback. I don't have a receipt anymore, but it stated smth like CAFE in the name of the item, and not cappuccino. It was on Sept,...
