McDonald’s — Restaurant in Kloten

I had a very unpleasant experience at the McDonald's in Zurich Airport. When the staff member went to hand me my burger, the entire thing fell apart on the counter — the patty literally touched the surface. Instead of discarding it, she quickly turned around, reassembled it with her bare hands behind my back, and handed it to me like nothing had happened.

I told her directly: “I just saw what happened with the burger.” She asked “What happened?” and I replied: “It fell apart and you put it back together with your dirty hands. I’m not going to eat that.” She denied it and only after insisting, the manager came over and offered to make me a new one.

Strangely, the “new” burger was ready in under a minute — which makes me strongly suspect they just used the same one. Especially since they didn’t throw it away in front of me — they took it back into the kitchen.

Honestly, it was disgusting. In a place like an international airport, you expect at least basic hygiene standards. This was not only unprofessional, but borderline...

This McDonald’s inside Foodland (a food court), just beside Zürich Airport, is a great spot for a quick and easy meal before or after a flight. It’s bright, modern, and kept very clean, with plenty of seating and self-order screens that make things run smoothly even during busy times. We went after we landed in Zurich, to make sure the kids had full bellies before we attempted to figure out the train and the city. We honesty didn't interact with a person at all - I ordered on a screen and then it was left on a worktop for me to collect.

The food was very fresh and hot. It’s ideal if you need something familiar before heading to the terminal or after arriving in Switzerland — especially when travelling with kids or a lot of luggage.

What an absolute disaster welcome to Zurich for any foreigner, there were only 3 orders when I was there and no one seemed to know what was going on including the so called manager. I know Switzerland is notorious for bad customer service, but this was over the top bad service. For a foreigner arriving and deciding to eat a good old macdonalds I highly recommend you stay away from this branch. Shocking that this is the first contact into CH. Do tourism a favor and either shut it down or change the staff completely and get a manager who knows at least how to greet a...
