Dal Mattino — Restaurant in Lucerne

After reading all the reviews, I was very curious to check Dal Mattino out And I'm happy to say all the reviews were quite accurate. The owner is warm and friendly. This shop, which is very easily blink and you'll miss it is nestled right in front of a bus stop so I'm glad he has a lot of natural foot traffic. I stopped for the Crookie having enjoyed Dominic Ansel's Cronut in Manhattan and curious what the Crookie would be like. It is, exactly as you'd imagine, a mutation of baked goods. The owner was honest enough to admit that this was actually a Parisian inspired tasty treat. His warmth and gentle prodding inspired me to also try a freshly baked cinnamon roll. This is one of my favourite coffee spots in Lucerne! The prices are fair, the products absolutely delicious. He also offers coffee with additional flavours (like vanilla, caramel, pumpkin spice or even popcorn) or with vegan alternatives to milk. If you don't like coffee, there's also chai, matcha or hot chocolate. The pastries are terrific, my personal favourite (so far! :)) were the wildberry muffins. Elias also changes up the foods from time to time. He served ice cream in summer, crepes after, foccacia too and now the pinsa is coming! Can't wait to try it :) Elias is also a super sweet vendor, always taking time to have a chat and remembering things about his regulars. The owner really made our day! We arrived early where there were less customers - he gave us some free samples of their gelato, and it definitely made us come back later to get another flavor. He even let us sample some of the chocolate used in the hot chocolate!

Some notes: The cookie croissant wasn't too sweet which was just right! It was crunchy on the cookie ends so if you like your cookies crunchy this may be for you The hot chocolate wasn't chocolatey in my opinion (coming from America if that matters), you can really taste the swiss milk tho!
