We thought we were going to Thai Garden around the corner because it is recommended on the Michelin website, but what a happy accident! This place is an 11/10! We started at the the bar upstairs has beautiful rooftop views of Lucerne. In the restaurant, the atmosphere is dark and romantic. The food and drinks were excellent. I haven’t had much Thai food, but I thought it was perfect. I am usually a harsh food critic, but I ate my entire bowl of the beef and red curry (Mandalay curry). My fiancé ate every bite of his Siagon noodles. We tried multiple bites of each others’ food and both enjoyed it. The service was great, and our waitress spoke pretty good English. (And they have English menus available.) They have a coat check, which is nice. You can pay $60 CHF per person for a nasty sandwich meal on mount Pilatus, or you can pay $60 CHF pp for the best meal you’ll ever have. Food in Switzerland is just expensive, get over it people! I don’t care how “inauthentic” some people find this place, it was literally delicious. Ignore every bad review and dine...
Read moreUpon my arrival in luzern, I once again developed a fierce craving for Asian food (see my Lecker Asia Wengen review.) First, we went to a different Thai place, and they herded us towards Thai garden, where we were once again redirected to another establishment; Mekong Asia bistro and bar. I think they are all owned by the same organization, because while I was eating, I noticed that the staff were escorting lots of people to Thai garden. Upon my seating, I quickly ordered the spring rolls and “Asian style” Caesar salad. The salad was quite unusual, but pretty good. Now, the spring rolls need some discussion. They were amazing! There were also slices of bread, which was a first for me at an Asian restaurant. Now to the negative part of the review. I had the Mekong noodles, which disappointed me. The basil wasn’t Thai basil, and the noodles felt like somebody trying to cook Thai at home without the full arsenal of necessary Thai spices. The service was amazing, the waiters were...
Read moreHad dinner June 14 2024. Spent almost 200 CHF for 2 people. Husband had salad he did not like, and did not eat. Rest of the meal was satisfactory. When the server asked about the uneaten salad we explained the above. She only offered to take an order for another item. Which our answer was no. At the end of the meal, we politely asked for the salad to be removed from the bill. She said no, they don't do that. I spoke with the manager and asked for the salad to be removed. He said no. We don't do that. Not unless there's something wrong with the food. I asked "wrong" according to who? We had a polite exchange. However he refused to make an adjustment. Pretty petty for an expensive restaurant, associated with an expensive hotel. Left a BAD impression. So you better like everything you order, because you'll pay for...
