Kaiten — Restaurant in Lucerne

Looks nice from the outside, but for a night out, it was a bit frustrating. First off, it took ages for us to be seated at the sushi bar (which was empty but somehow the waitress/waiter were “getting it ready” in the most inefficient manner) even though we had a reservation. Terrible system of keeping track of the orders - the waitress kept asking the sushiman what the client had upon closing the check. Loud and busy environment (specially with the music), no privacy at all. It feels a bit hectic for the sushiman/sushiwoman, especially with delivery orders coming in all the time. For dine-in clients, there was no explanation of how the ordering system works; we had to keep chasing the waiter/waitress. The food is fine, but it is pricy. A month ago, my partner and I decided to try Kaiten because it looked so inviting from the outside. Big mistake. The atmosphere inside was awkward and unwelcoming. We were seated at the bar without explanation, and the service was disappointing. Ordering drinks and still water resulted in an unexpected charge of 5 CHF per person for tap water served in a jar. The menu's pricing structure was misleading, featuring mostly high-priced dishes that evening. Paying 11 CHF for just two pieces of nigiri on a green plate felt unjustifiable, especially when the sushi itself was delicate and prone to falling apart. Personally, I am not really into Sushi but when I was invited by someone to try, it made me realize that eating Sushi is such worth to try. The restaurant is very accessable. The ambiance itself gives you the nice experience.. The different Sushi will absolutely satisfy your cravings. Do not miss to try their soup too because it is perfectly delicious. About the service, The crews are very accomodating, friendly, and very confident. They entertain well the costumers from the first up to the last standing. I could highly recommend this place.
