Kunsthaus Bar — Restaurant in Zurich

My partner came to pick up a sandwich to go as we did a few time after the museum. She sat outside for just a few minutes while waiting for her Uber and chatting with some friendly customers who happened to have the same dog as we do. The waitress — a woman in her early thirties, blonde, with long hair — came out and told her to leave, just like that, claiming that she was not dressed properly, even though she was simply wearing a dress.

My partner responded politely, saying, “I can put my jacket back on, would that be alright?” She behaved with complete courtesy throughout as the good decent polite respectful person.

The waitress, however, insisted: “No, you still need to leave.” My girlfriend asked why and the girl answered « you did not buy your food here » which was wrong because she just bought the food at this very place… and the girl kept finding new reasons to ask her to leave…

She added that next time, if my partner orders something to go, she would not be allowed to sit down at all. Such behavior is utterly unacceptable for a restaurant, a café, or any business serving the public. It was nothing short of scandalous, and we will certainly not be returning.

This was not just unnecessary — it was a form of harassment: unjust, inappropriate, and entirely unacceptable. It felt personal, as if the waitress had singled her out, and had nothing to do with professionalism. Hi, thank you for your note. Please know that we are annual members at the museum and semi-regular customers of the café, usually stopping in for coffee and croissants. That’s why this experience stood out so strongly to us.

I can confirm this did take place at your café. My girlfriend took a photo at 1:11 PM on Sunday of the dog sitting beside her, and the interaction happened just after that. She was seated on the far-right side of the terrace, near to the museum entrance door.

The staff member in question was a woman working the terrace at that time. Unfortunately, due to the shock of the interaction, my girlfriend didn’t catch her name, but her behavior left both her and the other nearby guests...

Seen a few very raving reviews about this place on all the gourmet resources coving Zurich. I agree that the place is very nice to catch some sun on a warm day and small dishes are also quite tasty.

However, during the two visits we had, the waiters really did not seem very interested in the new coming clients, independent of the reservation status. Moreover, the two cocktail experiences there were extremely underwhelming. Vodka martini had so much vodka it was nearly impossible to drink and on the second visit espresso martini had some weird small pieces of ice still floating in it, no coffee beans on top and an extremely weird and unusual taste...

Terrible service outside, arrogant and lazy.

As the waiter finally noticed a new visitor after 10 minutes, he just came up to me and looked at me without saying a word with a silent question “What do you want”. I was shocked by this audacity and rudeness and asked for a menu, to start. He brought the menu and demonstratively dropped in on my table without a word.

Considering the status of the place, the service team is a shame to your reputation among art collectors and city guests. I see a similar review by your patron below. Make sure to actually implement...
