We arrived early today, a drizzly morning in late August. The store was not yet open, but Emi would let us enter still. Before ordering I had ample time to let the interior act upon me. It is decorated in a very simple style. The music in the background was soothing and I could not place it into a specific genre. It was neither Japanese, nor European and fit very well into the overall atmosphere. Upon ordering a cappuccino, Emi suggested different flavors to us, chocolaty, floral and fruity. The cappuccino I drank was amazing, perfectly tempered and there was a chocolaty aftertaste which was intense. It felt as if it consisted solely of warm milk, it was incredibly smooth and I could have emptied in one gulp. The handmade croissant complemented the drink well. Emi is very friendly and speaks multiple languages. The place really lives up to its motto. Wishes are immediately fulfilled, as if it were natural to have a coffee made according to your taste. The espresso was exquisite with no coffee dregs visible, an eminent sign of the high quality beverages served here. The Barista achievement comes as no surprise therefore. Unfortunately, no blend espressos are served here. Moreover, the floor tiles are tacky and could definitely need an upgrade to harmonize better with its surroundings. The toilet facility is very clean, yet I would not mind having a key to lock the toilet door instead of a handmade shield inscribed with free and occupied. I was pleasantly surprised when I caught sight of the handmade, traditional, french soap with a tangy scent. This lovely, hip and nigh-perfect coffee shop is a must-go for all coffee lovers. You may find the best coffee here for...
Read moreFun chat with their Mexican barista. Completely crazy about the complexity coffee has to offer us. Great to hear about the diversity in why different staff members are doing coffee. Each of their personal stories adds to the curiosity and exploration that coffee can be.
The price matches the true cost of authentic specialty coffee. It might not even be high enough to stimulate a sustainable living for all stakeholders. Price is a nice starting point for the nuanced conversation about our place on this earth.
Perhaps the seating is a bit clinical for my liking. Because The staff was great. I think I left earlier than I would have if the furniture was more cozy. Would love to spend a few hours soaking up the way Mame treats living.
The one thing I noticed was the high entry level Mame helps create. All I need at home is a Wilfa Svart (120€) a Clever Dripper (35€) and regular Melita paper filters (5€?). This would allow me to be a novice and still taste the complexity of different Mame...
Read moreReview solely based on MAME coffee beans. Surprisingly ran into a specialty coffee shop in Toronto that sells MAME coffee. Was introduced of the brand a few weeks ago from a YouTuber video, but did not know the many championship that the founders has awarded of. Was hesitated to purchase at first because it’s almost as twice expensive as the coffee I usually purchase from some decent local specialty coffee roasters, but was told by the barista “this is one of the best coffee roasters in the world”. Got home and made pour overs with V60. Was amazed by how good it is. It tasted so silky, smooth, sweet, has strong notes that reminisced a delicate piece of almond milk chocolate. Now I don’t think I can go back to those local roasters I used to like. Hope I can visit MAME in...
