Must visit restaurant in Afurada area specially if you want the true local experience. We made a reservation - it is advised as this place can get crowded, even in the winter. First thing you'll notice as it's common around the area is the grills on the sidewalk with all the fresh fish available to grill, this restaurant's specialty. Inside you'll find a very typical coastal Portuguese restaurant with tiles and naval motifs. The tables are large but they're very close together, sometimes even getting in the way of the waiters. They're all very nice and helpful and will help you choose from the menu if you're having trouble deciding which sea delicacy you want. Some entree's are already available at the table, like octopus, corn bread and "pataniscas", a fried egg and cod mixture that's amazing, we even had to order again because the first batch disappeared quickly. The main dishes were perfectly grilled and the sides (baked and boiled potatoes) can be ordered again and again with no extra cost. Dessert selection was also good. 4 star review just because the tables were really close together and I find that if there was a little bit more space it could be nicer, but I could be wrong.

Tucked away, and off the main concourse from the ‘touristy’ area of Porto, I encountered this gem of a dining experience. From one block away you sense the aroma of grilled seafood in the air. The outside barbecue set up truely gave a very ‘at home’ feel. European seating arrangement being alfresco on a lovely Autumn afternoon. The food! To begin my waiter (very good English by the young man and lady, saved me the embarrassment of having to attempt Portuguese) brought me a starter of Bacalhau fritters and a delicious white wine from the Douro Valley region. Since i was dining alone i ordered 2x 1/2 portions to get some variety (thanks to my waiter for suggesting against getting a 3rd. I was definitely ordering with my eyes) I got served the whole Sardines’ (house special) and the whole baby squid. Im a strong believer in the best foods are done simply so that the quality of the item can shine. Seasoned with salt&pepper and grilled to perfection on the charcoal these dishes hit the spot. Incredible flavours I recommend Taberna São Pedro to anyone looking for a genuine Portuguese food experience.

This was my first bad meal in Portugal. The grilled sardines were good but slightly under seasoned. The service was a bit slow but not unexpected. It was odd when the waiter told me twice, "Just 5 minutes." Which I didn't expect or believe. But the biggest complaint was the cuttlefish. Way over cooked. The greatest sin when cooking fish is over cooking it. The first cuttlefish was slightly overdone but edible. The second was burned on the bottom and had the texture of shoe leather. I pointed out the burn section to the waiter. He simply struggled. 2 hours later, I still have a terrible taste in my mouth. There are lots of restaurants in the area. Perhaps try a different one.

I really loved to eat in this typical restaurant in the small town of Afurada. You can take a seat inside, in a small but very curated, clean and comfortable environment or outside in the sunny but windy very city center of the town. Menu is very simple: you choose your main course (fish or a couple of meat choices) and the waiter will bring in the excellent starter of the day and a fresh salad. We had a wonderful "bacalhao" starter. In the meanwhile the grill master will prepare the grilled main course... just in front of you because grill is outside the restaurant:) I chose "sardhinhas" that were absolutely excellent.... Totally recommend!!

I took a Uber for this place because of the good reviews and I can tell you: nobody here is lying. The fish is very good! The sardines are .. WAUW. And I don’t even like sardines that much!!! Could you imagine how nice the sardines are! The sardines are big. Not the typical little ones. They will give you bread (put the sardines on it), salad and potatoes. It is a lot. But very yummie. The waitress (the man with a black shirt and tattoos) is very nice and can talk in a great way with every consumer. The company need to make sure that he will work for them because it will be a lose to lose him.

Great and big place in nice area near Douru river. We had very fast service - our waiter was very professional. If you don't want bread and salad, just say so - because they serve it at the beginning and then charge for it in the bill. Not much, but just be aware of that. Salad and bread were tasty. All that we tasted was good and freshly made on grill, however my sole fish was a bit dry. I think it was because of quite many orders at the same time and only one man grilling. Others who ordered Doradas, Seabass and little squids were happy with their choice. They serve house wine - Winho Verde.
