N° Café — Restaurant in Beitou

Located across the street from Beitou MRT, this cafe has delicious food and fresh coffee beverages. I’ve been here twice in the past week. It’s been a while but I finally found a place in the Beitou area that serves damn good BLT sandwiches. I’ve gotten bored of the Taiwanese breakfast sandwiches, which as decent as it is cheap, sometimes is not enough. I just want that satisfying BLT sandwich as a breakfast meal at a place that’ll serve it in the late afternoon on a lazy weekend day when I don’t roll out bed til past noon. 自己店鋪安排得爛難道是客人的錯？？？不跟我說用餐時間只有兩個小時，只在三個小時後直接理直氣壯的叫我離開，還做公益事一樣高傲的指示著一群客人說「讓他們等你不好意思」？？？？難道我也不是客人嗎？？？？？想加點還不讓。

此咖啡館不值得來，也莫名奇妙得貴。那些別的一星評價 -- 討論食物，價錢，咖啡品質的 --- 極準。試過冰沙，熱咖啡，檸檬汁等，沒有一個讓人驚艷的，各個甜到天去了。喝了頭痛。

This is a café that is the least reflective of the Taiwanese emphasis on hospitality that I -- who grew up in Taiwan -- have seen in my entire life. You will not be treated like a customer, but as a number on a spreadsheet, and you are susceptible to being asked to leave moment a larger group of customers come in and they have nowhere to sit. How much you've spent on this café won't keep you a minute more.

While cafés do, rightfully, have time limits, they are usually upfront about it. This café keeps you around, unsuspecting and absolutely uninformed, until the exact second you become a liability to their profits. Then they stroll up to you and ask you to leave immediately, and if you ask for a few minutes they will keep hovering around and raising their voices each time until you do.

The coffee and food here is nothing special, but they charge you like it is. The only thing "special" about their drinks is how many gallons of sugar they pour down each cup. I have tasted a mocha smoothie here, a latté, and lemon juice. All of these drinks were essentially sugar water with only a vague hint of what they should be.

The food is bland, uninspired, and above all SMALL -- yet as expensive as a quality order at a legitimate restaurant. By every metric, you will have a much more fulfilling experience there if your purpose is to sate your hunger and thirst.
