Laozi Hot Pot — Restaurant in Datong District

Good hotpot place! About NT200 for weekday lunch though over when you choose the soup base (NT10 for basic Japanese seaweed broth to NT80 for milk based which is not meant to be drank unless cooked first). Bowl of veggies is OK portion as is the meats (about six slices pork). Sauces have variety you can add yourself and also has free sodas, soft serve ice cream, and on-site freshly made noodle machines (thin cooks in 2-3 min or thick cooks in 5-6 min. Select portion first and push button making sure to have plate below to catch it). Other items on menu also good. Seafood was fresh when we ordered it and regular orders (ie, not business lunch) have good portions. Air con is on high so it doesn’t feel hot when eating in summer. * Has special free meat if rate five stars on Google Map but I still give it 5 for the fresh good portion foods and nice environment. Service is pretty good too with the waitstaff I met. It’s a relatively new restaurant opened July 2020 and I have been there four times already (10/2020). ** Update Jan 2021: still really good! :) Now has Uber Eats and Foodpanda deliveries. I absolutely love this place!

I came to Taiwan to visit a friend whom I met during our semester studying in Japan and this was my very first time trying Taiwanese hot pot! This is my first visit to the country!

The staff were very friendly and the restaurant was lively and comforting, the staff were also very attentive to our table needs and despite the language barrier, one staff member helped me use the self serving ice cream machine. The atmosphere was very warm and welcoming.

I highly recommend everyone to come eat here, especially if it's your first visit to Taipei. Food was delicious and worth the flight. I wish I could live here and eat this once a month!

this hot pot place is one of the best ive been to during my trip to Taiwan. it's very clean and has a little buffet of dip sauces and drinks. the staff are very nice and attentive, often coming by to ask if we need to add more soup or if we need, anything else. they have a English menu so it's great for foreigners! the vegetable portion is great and the meat is fresh and tasty. there is also a diy noodle machine that is super fun and ice cream dessert after you finish eating all that hot pot!! def recommend this place and it's conveniently located...
