This place is highly recommended and also highly popular. And their menu is very limited. I had many蚵仔煎, I wanted to find out why this place is so popular. I have to wait about 45 minutes to gain a seating inside. But if you come right when they are open. They have two opening one for lunch and one for dinner. you will be able to get in much faster.
I first taste the garlic oyster, I notice that the oysters cooked perfectly because there's no slimy taste and the oyster meat is cooked through. Then I try their蚵仔煎, immediately I could tell this oyster pancake it's different than others. They have less cornstarch and less vegetable but more eggs and oysters. The flavor of蚵仔煎 it's very good and you still could taste umami flavor from the oyster and the sauce. Only knock I have is there dining area, it's basically a table and chairs and nothing much else they don't serve water and you have to grab your own napkin. It's like eating street food but inside.
Always check their notification for their days off.
If you don't like to wait in line for over an hour, it is best to go before 6:00 p.m., the wait it's about 30 minutes to 45 minutes. On weekends, You need to go when they first open to avoid long lines sometime could be a long as...
Read moreI recently visited Yuen Huan Pien Oyster Egg Omelette in Taipei, and while it didn't become my absolute favorite, it was certainly an interesting culinary experience.
Accompanied by a local friend, we quickly secured a seat within 5 minutes, avoiding what later became a lengthy queue. The restaurant is reasonably priced, making it an accessible choice for those looking to try Taipei's famed oyster egg omelette.
We ordered two omelets, and I must admit, the taste was a departure from the version I'm accustomed to back home. The omelets here were notably sweeter and had a somewhat soaky texture, which was unexpected for me. While it didn't align with my personal preference for a savory omelet, I could appreciate the unique twist they brought to this classic dish.
Despite not being my favorite, I believe Yuen Huan Pien Oyster Egg Omelette is worth a try, especially for those who enjoy exploring different interpretations of familiar dishes. The quick seating service and reasonable prices are definite pluses. If you find yourself in Taipei and curious about oyster egg omelettes with a hint of sweetness, this restaurant is...
Read moreSaw a long queue that extended to around 5 shopfronts on a Sunday night around 8pm. Headed back at 8.30pm, and the queue was much shorter. Was seated within 15 mins.
The staff takes your order prior to entering. You will be handed your table number with your order receipt. Payment is at the cashier after the meal.
The food was served quickly. There seemed to only be 1 chef. He is obviously skilled and cooks with precision. Each portion is placed on a conveyor belt that delivers it to the service staff, who then brings it to the tables.
After reading some of the reviews, I thought I might find it too starchy. However, I enjoyed the balance of starch (carbs), eggs and oysters (protein), and cabbage/lettuce (vegetables). The sauce was surprisingly not overwhelming, and added another dimension to the dish.
I've often found the Taiwanese version of oyster omelette to be on the sweeter side during my past travels. I'd say this is definitely one of the better ones, and one that I wouldn't mind...
