Prepare to queue and also to get reprimanded (scolded) by the squid master for standing/waiting at the wrong spot in his domain. What you get in return is a 10/10 fried squid tasting experience all for 130 TWD (solely squid) or 150 TWD (squid with cucumber). There’s around 8 flavours available and unfortunately I did not have the eating/financial ability to taste all of them this time round. I believe one of their hacks is that they “spin dry” the fried squid once it leaves the fryer so that the final product is crispy on the outside yet gives a perfect squidy rubbery bite on the inside. Definitely one of the highlights of Ningxia night market, which as a foodie is without a doubt the best night market in Taipei if you’re in it...

Stall #89 When you eat it right away it is crispy and delicious. I prefer the dry topping like pepper salt and garlic. The sauces tend to make the exterior soggy. I personally don’t think the cucumber is necessary. Next time I will get it without the cucumber. It isn’t the easiest thing to eat at the night market since it requires two hands. There also aren’t any seats available for this stall.

I actually queued for the wrong stall, but I thought the food shouldn't be too bad if there was such a long queue, so I decided to try it out.

The stall owner spoke English, and was patient. I didn't know you could choose 2 flavours per order. I chose salt and pepper, and he suggested lemon or bbq for the other.

I like the salt and pepper ones. The bbq sauce was okay, but it made the crispy skin soggy.

While I don't think the cucumber and jicama worked with the fried squid, I thought it was a nice addition because the vegetables were fresh...
