紅瀰 Homie bistro&coffee — Restaurant in Kaohsiung

Listed as a bar on google maps. I kindly asked for a cocktail menu and the waiter said they do not have cocktails. The pictures show multiple bottles of spirits and other reviews have pictures of drinks and shots. He also said they have no bathroom which is very hard to believe being a restaurant? Maybe he didn’t want to deal with me as a foreigner. I had a translator app after I recognized he didn’t know any English, which is fine. That is very understandable since I’m in Taiwan. However, I’ve used it many times over the two weeks traveling in Taiwan. This was my first rude experience from Taipei to Kaohsiung. He just seemed not interested in my being there. I planned on eating as well but gladly left to give my business to someone else. First bad review I’ve given. It is not something I want to do, but it was an unnecessary negative experience...

Came here for dinner and drinks last night on the recommendations of some colleagues. The ambience is fine, and the service is relatively friendly. The only problem is the wait time for food. I waited over an entire hour for the first dish to come out. The restaurant was less than half full, so this is inexcusable, especially on a Thursday night. Instead of sending a dish out at a reasonable pace, all three dishes came out after about 65 minutes, and the final dish came out after about 90 minutes. These were not complicated dishes (sauteed mushrooms, pan seared scallops, risotto, etc). The prices and the quality of the drinks are quite reasonable. I had called ahead and requested a table with a view for my 15th wedding anniversary. When I got there, I was warmly greeted, and they had a great table waiting for me. The food was wonderful. We had the parma ham salad, which was very large, mushroom/rosemary soup, and their zucchini/mushroom/beef skewers. Their prices are very reasonable. We had a very memorable dining experience.
