Marsalis Bar — Restaurant in Kaohsiung

The bar treated us very rudely. We are in our mid 20s, and just wanted a quick drink before we headed to.bed. We had just arrived after a long motorcycle trek from Kenting, and werent used to the brusque nature of the staff. We asked for a couple cigars and found it difficult to receive service. Additionally we were reprimanded for moving a 4th chair to a table for three so we could sit together. Came here for a live jazz performance and it exceeded my expectations. I got one of the best seats in the house for the performance., front and center! The staff were very friendly and polite, and I had a great conversation with them.

Even though I only had an old fashioned, their cocktails don’t disappoint. It was definitely one of the top old fashioned I’ve had in Taiwan. Beautiful jazz bar. I knocked a star off overall because it was pricey for Taiwan but it has a lovely ambience. Loved the music. There was nothing live when we were there but it was still worth a visit. Very well-made cocktails. They are whisky specialists but ours were gin-based.
