Artist Teahouse is actually a branch of the main Jiufen Teahouse and is a short 3-5mins walk down the hill. We booked a tea appreciation package on Klook for USD 43.00 for two. Redeeming the package was simple; we had only to show the redemption voucher via email and we were set. The package came with two types of pre-selected teas: (1) Shanlinxi Oolong, which is a light brew; and (2) Gui-Fei Oolong, which is a medium brew. In addition, we were also served a small variety of preserved fruit slices (i.e. pineapple, banana, grapes, and mangoes), but the star was undoubtedly the oolong-flavoured cheese cake. The waitress taught us the basics of how to prepare each tea before we were left in the warm embrace of the teahouse's peaceful tranquility. Service was warm and hospitable. In fact, seeing as we were avid photographers, one of the service staff generously brought us to a spot along the route from Jiufen Teahouse to Artist Teahouse which featured the famous and picturesque view of A-MEI Tea House, on the mountainous slopes of Jiufen. Throughout the almost 1.5hrs we spent there, we could almost forget the otherwise touristy crowds and chaotic rain of Jiufen on this cold...
Read moreDefinitely not the cheapest tea experience around but arguably the most enjoyable. Artist Teahouse is owned by the same people as Jioufen Teahouse but set in a much less crowded area.
We loved the way the coal for the hot water kettle was set up and it was absolutely perfect for sitting outdoors on a cold day. The servers are knowledgeable about tea and speak good English, Mandarin, and Japanese. The owner is an artist (hence the name of the teahouse) and you use a tea set that he designed!
The tea infused cheesecake was also incredible and a very nice accompaniment to hot tea. Highly recommend for people who actually want to drink tea instead of just taking selfies! You can take the rest of the tea leaves to go if you cannot finish brewing them (quite impossible to drink it all.)
NOTE: Guests can drink tea for a limit of up to 3 hours. There is a surcharge of 100NT per extra person sharing a pot of tea. They donât have a meal service any more, but there are many savoury and...
Read moreLess busy and trafficked than the main Jioufen Teahouse location, this shop is a tranquil alternative to the bustling tea houses on the main road. Teas are excellent quality (both fresh and aged) if a bit pricyâchalk it up to paying for ambience and trust. Views from all tables overlook the mountain and ocean.
The interior has elegant carved wood tables (painfully low for longer-legged friends) and a single cushy sofa. The outdoor patio seats are standard height. Itâs a great shop to work when theyâre not busy, otherwise they implement a time limit.
My favorite snacks here are their cheesecakes. Firstly, theyâre actually baked, and secondly, they are very fragrant and flavorful. The tea mochi is deeply tea-flavored with a stiff chew, completely unlike the melt-in-your-mouth variety that is more commonly sold. I loved it because it reminded me of old school snacks I had with elders as a child.
