I was not sure if the food in such a touristy spot would be overpriced, but this restaurant has very fair prices and extremely delicious food. We ordered the rice with stewed pork, vermicelli in chicken oil, dango with red beans, and some fries.
The stewed pork was soooo tender and melt-in-your-mouth. I loved the tender but crunchy bamboo shoots accompanying it as well, and the rice soaked up all the sauce and married the bamboo and pork together in harmony. There was also a boiled and seasoned egg and 1 salty radish pickle. I didn't understand the inclusion of the salty radish pickle, it was too salty for me and I felt like it would have been better being more sour and sweet to contrast the savoury pork and egg. Anyways, you have to eat this here. It's delicious.
The vermicelli in chicken oil was literally vermicelli completely covered in chicken fat with some green onion and aromatic garlic. Despite the sound of it, it was actually well seasoned, not too fatty and pretty comforting.
The fries were fries, nothing wrong with them.
And the dango with red beans served over ice were delicious! chewy and colorful dango with slightly sweet red beans was a refreshing way to end the meal, even though I was soooo full.
The view outside over the tourists is pleasant and serves as a nice escape. The waiter spoke decent English and seemed attentive and nice as well.
I recommend coming here...
Read moreA wonderful dinner experience through and through. They were direct but polite, fast service and great food, probably the best in the main Jiufen area. They knew we were eyeing a balcony table but there weren’t any available at the time. After we were seated inside, they notified us right away a table outside was available and moved us over. In addition, a group of 24 (24!!!) came in and they happily accommodated them. They even made sure we ordered before them so we’re not behind the large group’s order.
Food was tremendous. Highly recommend the chicken mushroom soup as well as their pork dumplings. The minced pork with chicken rice was also great after a long day of walking. Just overall a fantastic experience. Location is great too overlooking the main...

This restaurant is a true gem in Jiufen. The menu is simple, clear, and affordable, and the food is absolutely delicious. Don’t expect flashy “dancing dragon” dishes — instead, you’ll find authentic, home-style flavors that feel like they were made with love.
Every bite reminded me of my grandma’s cooking, bringing back warm childhood memories — it’s almost emotional.
In such a touristic area, finding a place like this feels like an oasis in the desert: authentic, comforting, and reasonably priced.
The staff are lovely, genuinely kind, and very efficient. If you want to taste something real in Jiufen, this is the...
