Kooks 異嗑堂 (K1 Danshui 淡水廚房) — Restaurant in New Taipei

The food here is great and there are so many options to choose from. Everyone from vegetarian to meat-lovers will find something to please them. The cheese fries and onion rings are amazing. The Kooks Veggie Burger has a great flavor and texture. My friends loved the Island Passion Burger and the Tex-Mex Chicken Wrap. The shakes are lovely. The only problem is the slow service. That's the only reason they lost a star. They also have some grocery items like Western style beans, peas, corn meal, etc. for sale. We plan to return to try other things on the menu. Went a second time and had the Sun-dried tomatoes and olives quesadilla. It barely had any sun-dried tomatoes but lots of olives and cheese. My friend had the Caesar Burger which she enjoyed. This place gets five stars just for its character- there are interesting paintings and posters covering the walls from floor to ceiling, even in the bathrooms. There are lots of interesting options on the menu, and whether you are a meat eater, vegetarian, vegan or prefer to eat gluten free, you'll find some options for you. Their fake meat with mushrooms that we got with our veggie salad really tasted amazing. Staff was friendly and service was good. My only issue is that I didn't see anything spicy that I could have and my falafel rice dish was good but lacked that wow factor in taste. Next time I'll ask if they have other sauces that can complement the dishes for a spicy pallete. The portions were pretty big and we packed the leftovers to enjoy at home...

I am so sad because I used to love this place. The food was so good and the prices were reasonable because you used to get really good portions. Now the prices increased but the quality decreased. We paid 410 for beef nachos that have barely any beef or cheese in them, and the the pepperoni pasta that used to be my favorite was so plane with just shredded pepperoni instead of the bake ones that they used to have. Again if the prices were the same I wouldn’t have been so disappointed but the fact that they raised the price and still get average food is sad.
