Red Barn — Restaurant in New Taipei

Such a fun restaurant! Interior resembles a red barn. Friendly staff members. Make sure that you like them on Facebook to receive free fries. If you write them a 5-star review on Facebook, you will get a free combination plate. (We got chicken nuggets and onion rings!)

Matt and I shared a pizza and 2-beer combination. We paid only about 300NT for our meal, and got a bunch of free items to munch on.

Vivi and Joy were wonderful employees who recommended places for us to check out in the Tamsui area.

It was hot so we didn’t sit outside, but if you want, you can catch Tamsui’s famous sunset from their balcony. Their patio overlooks the busy boardwalk.

Spacious interior with a huge selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages. My Aunt told us to stay away from the chicken wings, but everything else is a good call. Our pizza was about 8 inches in diameter. Cheesy layer atop shredded chicken and bell peppers. Super good.

Below the restaurant, you can sit at tables where fish will clean your feet for 100NT.

I can't say this with anymore kindness. Bad food. Poor service (debatable). We ordered the ribs, the half chicken and buffalo wings. None of them were close to satisfactory.

The wings seemed to have been basted in a powder substance resembling coffee creamer. The sauce left sticky residue on our hands that required alcohol to remove.

The ribs seemingly appear tender on first bite. You later realize they are actually too soft! Cooked or prepared a while ago. Barely any taste in them at all. My friend even dared to say they were cooked then frozen and cooked again.

The chicken... Same problem as the ribs. Really bland is the overall result. There is too much of everything and too little of anything. Food is not cooked even by fast food restaurant standards.

Service: Imagine asking for ice and never receiving it from your waitress. Imagine ordering a combo meal and receiving both your beers at the same to drink (for each person). Lol, I laughed because clearly...

The food is absolutely underwhelming and just not good. Also overpriced. Not sure how a restaurant can mess up a basic cheese burger 🍔 but they did. Meat patty was small AND overcooked / burnt. Cheese was fake individually wrapped plastic cheese. There were 3 layers of lettuce 🥬 which is absurd. I tasted like I was eating salad burger for some reason.

My friend order the steak which was equally bad. Over seasoned probably to hd the fact the meat quality was super low and possibly a frozen steak. Also it was not grilled / baked well where the inside was completely uncooked and raw. Completely not safe and not eatable. We immediately return the steak and showed the problem. Which suspect they microwaved it. Steak was very greasy and grisly.

The place is huge but largely empty which should have given the hint that we shouldn’t eat there.

They do have cheap beer so it’s probably better as bar than...
