Red Castle 1899 — Restaurant in New Taipei

We went on 14/08/2019 for dinner. It was quiet at around 8pm. We ordered 4 dishes and only the fish was good. The trouble starts here..... we were told to pay the bill as soon as the dishes were presented. Because the cashier’s going home soon. ( around 8:15pm) So we paid up and can’t order any more ( odd for a restaurant business.) 10 minutes into our meal. The waitress switched off the aircon in the restaurant ( it’s around 30c in Tamsui.) in preparation of going home.... why open for business that you are so keen to get rid of your customers? Had the opportunity to have lunch at this place during my recent visit to Salalah.

I knew that it would not be an authentic Chinese restaurant and frankly that is why I wanted to go!! Mostly these restaurants serve Chinese which has been modified to suit the local taste.

However, the food was just average. We tried a couple of chicken gravy dishes, fried rice and noodles.

Would visit again and try some other dishes as well.

My third time here, never ever disappointed.

Many dished are chef’s recommendations. I love the most is fried chicken with sweet sauce. The meat is really tender.

The walkways to the restaurant can be accessed in 2-3 ways by the downhills and uphills, but need to make sure for the elderly and kids especially...
