If you are looking for a real “western” food, this is not the place for you.
Taste is a very personal thing, one person’s great food might not be the same to the other person. I am not telling you if the food is good or bad, only sharing my experience.
We came from New York, after 3 weeks in Taipei, my kids wanted some “ American food” or “ western food” We picked this place since the menu and photos looked like what we used to back in the states.
I ordered their classic meal set, when I got my order, first thing I noticed was the egg, “ Sunny side up egg” was written on the menu, what I got was clearly “scramble eggs”
I asked the server, she said to me “ That’s how we cooked the egg, we use microwave, and scramble it a little bit, it’s kind in between half cooked and fully cooked”…… then it should not be called “ sunny side up egg” it’s “ SCRAMBLE EGGS” !!!! Sorry, I am a huge fan of sunny side up eggs, not getting the right eggs for my breakfast really made me sad 😭😭😭
Baguette: it’s actually more like “bread”, not bad, lightly toasted with a little butter, but they sprinkled sugar on top, not expected.
German Sausage: not the German sausage I am used to, it tasted more like hot dog.
Chicken thigh: It’s a very traditional Taiwanese style stew chicken thigh. The chicken thighs were cooked in stock that usually mixed with soy sauce, sugar, star anise and other spices. Totally not expected In a dish like this.
We also ordered " Thick Sliced Toast with Salted Butter" The toast was nicely toasted, but there's a layer of granulated sugar on top. It was.... sweet, not savory
Like I said in the beginning, if you are looking for a real western style food, this place might not be the right place. Most of the food are "sweet" However, the place was very nice with cozy atmosphere, a rare quiet place in the busy city.
My only recommendation? Please please please correct your menu for the scramble eggs, I don’t want another sunny side up egg lover’s feeling...
Read moreWe went up to the 2nd floor with our paid coffee only on our arrival day while waiting for the room to be ready. It was cozy & peaceful until a group of office ladies came in with their laptops and talking loudly on the cellphone. In our opinion, the management should encourage all its dine-in customers to set their phones to manner mode. The service crew should consider the amount of water add to the Americano. It is almost impossible without spilling while carrying 2 "Full" cups on a small tray and walk up the stairs before bending down to place it on the lower table (couple seat) near bookshelves....
Read moreI had such huge expectations before entering this coffee shop...so a bit of disappointment when I saw my coffee.
Don’t get me wrong, coffee taste okay. The milk froth was a bit too much for a flat white. You could see the milk didn’t mix well with the espresso shot. But overall the coffee taste okay (beans are quite nice).
There’s free wifi here and self service counter for you to get cutlery and water. Pretty packed when we arrived. There’s a few OLO coffee shop in Taipei, I’ll give it a try again in...
