This is an amazing little sushi/izakaya restaurant! The fish served today wasn’t anything super rare or high-end, but everything tasted fantastic. What really stood out to me was the chef’s enthusiasm for pickles. I tried so many mysterious pickled things today — at one point, I was shocked to find out I was eating pickled mango… and even pickled Chinese kale stalks! Totally unexpected and super fun.
It’s a lovely spot for drinking and enjoying sashimi. The final soup — a summer clam broth with fish — was absolutely incredible. Light, flavorful, and just the right touch to end the meal.
The chef doesn’t speak English, so I’d recommend that anyone who knows Chinese or Japanese try to engage with him — it’ll make your dinner truly unforgettable. I’d definitely come back if I ever visit Taichung again!
