BABA Indian Restaurant — Restaurant in Taichung

If you are driving from the direction of the Liuchuan Riverside Walk you can easily miss this restaurant since it's on the corner rather than side of the road. That being said let's begin to talk about my experience there. The place itself is very "organic" in a sense that things seem to be done in a very spontaneous way rather than being OCD and planned out. There were three of us dining there for lunch. The staff were very friendly, attentive and explained the food to us patiently. We ordered two curry dishes with chicken and lamb, two orders of nan, one order of panipuri and lastly the mango lassi. The lamb was clear winner here, but I think it's curry that was selected rather than the meat itself. The nan was the most underwhelming aspect of this meal. It was rather lifeless and wasn't made in the traditional way. The panipuri was definitely the highlight of the meal. I guess it had something to do with the fact that it was presented in such a unique manner and I've not had anything similar in any cuisine. The staff from Swaziland explained to us how to actually "assemble" the different ingredients and recommended the golden ration as well. It was definitely sensational to have such unique texture and tastes explode in your mouth for sure. The mango lassi was very light and a tad bit acidic, nothing to write home about to be honest. All in all the dishes seemed to be a tad bland for my taste, but I don't know if that's just a personal preference thing or that they've adjusted the flavors to suit local Taiwanese people. I thoroughly enjoyed the authentic taste of the dishes at this Indian restaurant abroad. The curry was outstanding and captured the true essence of Indian flavors. The Allo Paratha was prepared in a genuine Indian style, and I look forward to visiting again. The chef's expertise was evident, and the overall experience was delightful.
