LEFT左派 — Restaurant in Taichung

I can't recommend this place highly enough! Their cocktails are very good, although if you are looking for classic cocktails, they may not have the ingredients on hand to make something more obscure. However, where 左派 really shines is their inventive menu of fusion cuisine, which features bold dishes with unapologetically strong flavours that stand out among other upmarket gastropubs. In a city where the bar food scene is dominated by uninspired burgers, truffle fries, and duck breasts, it's refreshing to see elevated takes on banh mi, meat buns, as well as classics like wonton noodles, with many dishes featuring Sichuanese and Southeast Asian flavours that haven't been watered down to suit the local taste. There are also bolder additions, such as mapo tofu pizza and loco moco, the latter which I haven't even seen on a menu before in Taiwan. If I had visitors to Taichung/Taiwan wanting to experience interesting fusion cuisine, especially for the modest price of 200-300 per dish, I would take...

This place was so good. I went back for a second time in one week, the first time I went with a few friends and we grabbed a drink and one of my friends ordered one of the dinner plates and I tried it and It was delicious. The presentation of the drinks was amazing. One of the workers was nice enough to help me make my own cocktail and it was so good and when I went back the second time did not disappoint. I loved the display of the drink as well the actual drink was so good I will definitely be back. I was in this place a while back. Couldn't get much worse. The food is expensive, and portions are tiny. Its very dark, and the chairs and tables are cheap and uncomfortable. Had to ask the staff multiple times about our order. They spend most of their time drinking and talking at the bar, or sitting outside smoking. They brought me a beer, but it was a 0% beer. I told them I wanted real beer and they got a little testy, but brought me one. They actually insisted I pay for the beer they brought by mistake. Terrible experience and will...
