ROBIN'S 新加坡美食( 海南雞飯) — Restaurant in Taichung

This is a chef driven place. After speaking with the chef, I learned a bit about his approach to culinary arts, his experience running a large restaurant operations in Singapore, and his decision to come to Taiwan. His ideas on cooking wasn't just empty theory either. Robin's Hainan chicken rice has a unique combination of spices that really made it a standout. In comparison, I was Singapore last month and had a couple of runs at famous chicken rice shops while I was there. But it was Robin's that lingered on my taste buds while I ate in Singapore.

Robin's is a must stop for my annual trip to Taiwan.

Tried the Chicken Rice, Bak Kut Teh, and Kaya Toast. Taste is authentic and more refined that typical hawker stalls in Singapore. Ingredients are localised so there are slight differences as compared to what you would get in Singapore, but it's all the more impressive being able to achieve the same taste with different ingredients.
