Finally had the chance to visit Sushi Suzuki in Taichung — as someone who’s tried many omakase spots, I really appreciated how traditional and authentic this experience was. All the chefs are Japanese, and you can tell they focus on craftsmanship and quality over showy presentation. It’s all about letting the ingredients speak for themselves.
One highlight of this visit was definitely the uni — they served two different types, each presented in its own way. The first was served very simply, allowing you to fully appreciate the pure, clean flavor of the uni itself — incredibly fresh and naturally sweet. The second was crafted into a nigiri, and I was honestly impressed by how well the uni paired with their shari (sushi rice). In fact, their shari is one of the closest I’ve tasted to the top-tier sushi I’ve had in Japan — perfectly seasoned and balanced, really elevating every bite.

I went for a cheaper one. The food was excellent. The chef was very interactive with me during the whole meal. He told me where, when the food come from and occasionally made some jokes. The chef is very friendly and tries to explain every course and can speak pretty good English. Be prepared to spend a whole evening here as the food is served as multiple courses.
