We were very excited to try this spot after reading all of the positive reviews and seeing the photos. Unfortunately it was a let down. The restaurant name and menu have changed from what is shown on reviews. There are no longer English descriptions on the menus, which is fine as we are in Taiwan, but there are also no pictures to show what the dishes look like and the descriptions are not clear. The shepherds pies are still on the menu but they were out at 6:45pm because they were out of potato (?!). We asked about a few other dishes pictured in reviews but were told those items were no longer available. And they were also out of a few other dishes on their new menu so we had limited options. We both ordered noodle dishes and they had minimal toppings. Flavor was OK but certainly didn’t live up to any of the hype described in previous reviews. Soup, drink, and dessert were pretty good but didn’t make up for the weak entree. Especially not at 400NT each. Servers were really nice but also tending to too many things around the cafe to provide service in a timely manner (and there was only one other table seated). Lastly, we noticed the person preparing the food was using their bare hands handling the noodles... probably not a good practice during a pandemic (or in general). I don’t like leaving poor reviews but the cafe was super cute and seems like they have a lot of potential. I really hope they are able to turn...
Read moreI travel to Taichung to come here. I am not a vegan/vegetarian. I just like eating good food, and so I feel that this place is excellent for what it serves.
As a cafe, the cakes and drinks are excellent. From coffees to speciality ones 150 to juices - around 130 (good ingredients) to speciality teas. The cakes are tasty, and cupcakes are just 45nt, and taste like heaven :-) I even took some away.
As a restaurant, I think that this place is excellent too. The dishes take time to prepare- e.g. The pies and cuisines (look at the photos). I had the Mozakka, but usually have Shephard's pie. I feel that both dishes are high quality and are well worth the 20 minute wait.
I don't normally buy a set, but you for 150nt extra, you can have a 150 beverage with a dessert (super cupcake) and a soup. If you look at photos, you can see.
In general, i do not normally spend more than 200 on a meal, but to come here is a special treat and it is worth spending all my money on and even spending the train money to get here from Taipei. The meal costs 220, and an extra 150 for the set. If you don't have much money, there are cheaper dishes. You could just try a dish separately.
Once, I even booked the strawberry cake (but they don't sell it anymore).
Overall, for all people who like home cooked food, this is a super place to go to. The staff are...
Read moreI got to visit Bluesomeone's Vegan Cafe for the first time the other day. I'm not vegan, or even vegetarian, but I was with my vegan friend, who was excited to show me this gem of a place. The decor and atmosphere of this cozy little restaurant was just darling-- it reminded me of Gaston's tavern from Beauty in the Beast. I was impressed to see so many foods on the menu that are typically non-vegan foods. I ordered the vegan bacon quiche and the vegan tiramisu along with a kiwi juice. Everything came out nicely plated, with a few touches that made it feel extra special. All three items were quite tasty. The quiche and tiramisu both had slightly different textures and flavors than I was used to with their non-vegan counterparts, however, that didn't take away from the fact that they were both delicious. I still prefer the non-vegan version of both, but this cafe does a great job providing a large variety of delicious foods for Vegans --and non-vegans--to enjoy. I look forward to visiting this adorable...
