Wooden Door Cafe — Restaurant in Taichung

The menu was written in both Mandarin and English, but they are NOT accurate.

Someone in our group read the English translation of the menu. We ordered pasta with PESTO sauce, so naturally, we expected a portion of green-colored pasta, since there was LITERALLY a photo of it on the menu. When it was delivered, turns out, it was pasta with garlic sauce.

The worst part is the waitress supervisor’s attitude. She came to us, saying that the other waitress has confirmed the orders to us (it was done in Chinese), therefore, they were unable to replace our dish.

She repeated her sentences, basically saying that the Taiwanese people in our group should be responsible in helping our foreigner friend to ensure that the order is correct.

I was really dumbfounded. This is the first time I receive such attitude from a restaurant in Taiwan. Wrong translations are normal, it’s perfectly understandable. But your response to this issue is the problem.

For foreigners: you can just skip this place, the food was not really worth the price, even when it's supposed to be spicy it's not spicy enough, and the English menu is not up-to-date: we ordered the pesto cream spaghetti but it turned out the Chinese translation is not the right translation, and the staff didn't even apologize that their menu was wrong, and kept insisting that they indeed had confirmed the order, at least admit that the menu was wrong duh) - in the end the supervisor did ask if we wanted to change the menu (not even a sorry was out, she asked in...

I would not recommend this to anybody. Why? I asked for a piece of bread with my salad NO, that could not be done, my wife asked for Parmesan cheese on her Italian dish, but no that could not be done. Tobasco also not available!. I had grated cheese on my salad so why not on the Italian dish. My companion had several slices of roasted bread, why could they not give the same with the salad?? Salad dressing, mmhhh tasted like mayonnaise. Come on guys or girls, get an education in service. This is 2016. So do not waste your time...
