Very, very long queue—we waited 1 hour and 45 minutes! I was starving by the time we got in.
The restaurant layout felt a bit odd—narrow and cramped, making it difficult for the staff to move around. Everything here comes in large portions, with big trays and big plates, so each table needs an extra side table just to hold the meat and vegetables. At the same time, the staff have to push around huge carts, and there’s barely enough space for them to pass through. The whole atmosphere felt chaotic and a bit suffocating rather than impressive.
Now, onto the food—oh wow! We ordered 鴛鴦鍋 (Yin Yang Hotpot) with 豆腐白湯鍋 (Tofu White Broth) + 無老辣香鍋 (Spicy Mala Broth), and both were incredibly rich and flavorful in their own way. The tofu was so good it left me speechless—you can keep refilling the regular tofu and duck blood, but the real highlight was their 冰淇淋豆腐鍋 (Creamy Tofu).
This creamy tofu was mind-blowing. The texture was so unique—smooth and rich like cream cheese, but not sticky or heavy. It stayed creamy even after being boiled in the hotpot, without turning watery. It was so indulgent and packed with umami, I couldn’t believe tofu like this even existed!
The beef and pork were top-tier quality, but the portions were massive—with just two of us, we could only manage one plate of each. The veggies were fresh, but honestly, the real stars here were the tofu and the broths.
I’ve never had hotpot in Taipei with flavors this bold and intense—absolutely perfect for anyone who loves strong and...
Read moreI've been hearing a lot about this 无老锅 and finally have the chance to visit this particular outlet in Taichung. When we entered, we were greeted by friendly staff and we were brought to the second level. The interior design was very "atas" and modern. We were there about 11.30am, so the restaurant was not packed. Since it was our first time, we decided to try two of their signature broth. After trying their broth, I have to say this is the BEST hotpot I had in my life EVER. The broth was packed with rich spices and bold flavours. Most of my friends preferred the mala flavour but I chose the other wise. They have free flow of duck blood and tofu which were really tasty. The waitress would always remind us to deep them for a certain amount of time for the ingredients to soak up the flavours. The ice cream tofu was unforgettable, something so unique which I have never tried before. Their squid paste was excellent, better than the prawn paste. The portion for the beef platter was very huge, I would say it's enough for 3-4 pax. I will definitely visit the...
Read moreThis is hands down the best hot pot you will ever get. It is so much better then Haidilao hotpot. The Mala soup base is so fragrant that you will not find a better one else where. I will highly suggest getting both pork bone and mala soup base. Pick your choice of meat, seafood, vegetables and you are ready for a hell of a good meal. This is worth every cent you paid for it. This hotpot joint is something I will visit very time I am...
