Cogito Café came highly recommended by friends and other locals in Tainan so I was super excited to finally get in for brunch right before I headed to Taipei!

The atmosphere, furnishing, and theme of the restaurant are beautiful. The blue and white shades really compliment each other! The cafe is very accessible for locals and visitors! You order using a QR code and pay at the front when you are ready to place your order. They have free wifi for those who may not have service, so you can still order.

My friend and I grabbed a seat by the wall, overlooking the street from our left. The seating was very comfortable and we came early in the morning, so it was very quiet and sweet atmosphere.

I ordered the Chicken Thigh Brunch and my friend ordered soup and bread. The bread was so soft and warm, melt in your mouth! We both got the soup of the day and it was very savory.

When my food arrived it was presented very nicely. A little cup for my yogurt, my eggs presented next to my tossed greens. The chicken thigh takes the cake as the most beautiful. It looked great and tasted even better. The chicken was season well, toasted well, and grilled where the meat was still moist.

My eggs were a bit runny, but not too bad. My yogurt was good, but I didn’t think it went well in combination with the salad vinaigrette and the chicken.

I also ordered a lovely coffee cocktail that was so good. I am becoming the biggest fan of lemonade and coffee !! I got the raspberry tea coffee and it was so beautiful I almost didn’t drink it … almost. But I did and I’m happy I did, because it was lovely.

Be careful when you pay to check the bill. Our bill for lunch for two people was over NTD1400 and upon further inspection we noticed that five coffees that we didn't order were added to the final bill. Furthermore, instead of pricing the drinks as part of the set lunch, staff added them...

Excellent quality of food and coffees, but very slow service for coffees - 15+ min wait for simple espresso and cappuccino is strange. Food was nicely prepared, tasty - though given level of service (self-serve for cutlery, water etc)...
