The location of this Store is a former Tainan Bookstore. DuXiaoYue is very traditional Tainan style noodle and successful and famous, the glory of Tainan. It was succeeded by the second generation. DuXiaoyue began the business at Kansi street (Hoping st.) by Mr. Hong Shantou who was originally a fisherman running a noodle restaurant during the off-season. The heirloom braised pork pan is a good taste of pasta. Later, the sons separated and also fought for the trademark of Xiaoyue.
DuXiaoyue is already a representative of Tainan cuisine. The favorite hometown taste of the Tainan people is DuXiaoyue pork braised meat. Today, I ordered rice noodles, marinated eggs, tribute pills, marinated sausages, or the taste of my hometown.
A great city, to be able to stay, can accumulate the taste and culture of the guests. When food becomes a great extension for the public, showing the confidence of the citizens can make the city more tasteful and versatile...
Read moreWe had lunch at this place after visiting Anping Old Fort in the morning and the waiter is nice enough to allow us in though it was quite late and close to the restaurant rest time. We ordered their signature dan zai noodle, a plate of grilled milk-fish, and stir-fried morning glory veggie with beef (using sacha sauce). We also ordered the cold brew tea for drink. The meal was nice and the noodle and veggie dishes were the highlight. Tainan beef is really good and no wonder it is appreciated throughout Taiwan. Their unique dan zai noodle is a special dish invented in Tainan and a must try if you're in the town.
Customer services from floor staff was good and some of them could communicate reasonably in English and assisted us with the menu choice. The place's ambience is quite good and you can have nice meal since the it has nice decor and ample space. The prices on the menu are still good value for your money though the place is quite popular with overseas...
Read moreI really wanted to like this branch but the food was not good compared with the other Du Hsiao Yeh (which is the original store, that's the one I used to eat at with my Grandpa over 40 years ago) just down the street at 台南市中西區中正路16號 . The famed dan tze noodles were not very flavorful. We also ordered the stir-fried eel dish which was also bad --the eels were not fresh so the texture was rubbery and the sauce was not the right balance of vinegar and sugar it's supposed to be (I'd recommend 進福炒鱔魚專家 instead for this specific dish). The oyster noodle dish was bland and had the wrong balance of oyster to noodle ratio. Even the yam leaves dish was meh. The soy bean pudding dessert had the right texture and was tasty. Best part of the meal was the staff, they were very friendly.
All in all, disappointing food experience, you're better off going to the one up the road. The other branch has a smaller menu but also all the items there are tastier and...
