I had the chance to visit Kavalan Whisky Bar one Thursday night, and I’m so glad I made the reservation in advance. If you’re into whisky, this place is a must-visit.
The bar has a relaxed yet upscale vibe, perfect for sipping some of the finest whiskies. What really stood out was the selection. I tried some unique options, like their peated vinho, a single cask wine cask finish from the Bordeaux region, and a few sherry cask variants. Each one was a real treat, offering distinct flavors that you wouldn’t find everywhere. The experience of tasting whisky directly from the barrel was also something I’ve never tried before, and it added a whole new level of enjoyment.
The bartender deserves a special mention. He was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, offering great insights into the whiskies I was tasting. It felt more like a conversation with a whisky enthusiast than just a bartender serving drinks, which really made the experience stand out.
They also have some snacks on the menu, though I’d recommend being cautious with what you choose to avoid overpowering your palate. The spring rolls were a good option for something light and crunchy without disrupting the whisky flavors.
While I also visited the Kavalan Distillery during my trip, I found that the tasting experience at the bar was much more enjoyable. It had that personal touch and allowed me to truly immerse myself in the world of Kavalan whiskies.
All in all, if you’re in the area and appreciate good whisky, Kavalan Whisky Bar is definitely worth checking out for an unforgettable...

First Impressions: Location is everything, and Kavalan nails the discrete entrance. Once inside, it's all about the whisky. Their selection is absolutely stellar. The Kavalan whisky flight is the main reason you're coming here, and trust me, it doesn't disappoint.
Whisky Experience: The tasting flight is where this place truly shines. You're getting a comprehensive tour of Kavalan's range, guided by staff who genuinely know their stuff. Bartenders are knowledgeable, passionate, and happy to walk you through each pour.
There were 2 sets of flights. Premium goes for 2400ntd and regular is around 1200-1300 ntd if memory servers me right. There's a min 700ntd per person charge when I went.
Cocktail Situation: Mixed bag here. Some cocktails are absolute home runs, while others are just... okay. If you're coming strictly for craft cocktails, Taipei has better dedicated spots. But that's not really the point of this bar.
Atmosphere: Could use some work. You can hear other tables quite clearly, which breaks that premium whisky bar vibe a bit.
Pro Tip: Come for the whisky, not necessarily...

Locating the establishment proved to be a charming challenge, but once we discovered the inconspicuous corner building and ascended the stairs, we knew we were on the right path. This whisky bar stands out as one of the finest I've encountered on my global journeys, and I've explored quite a few in my time.
The ambiance, mood, decor, and the attentive staff coalesce seamlessly, creating an impeccable and harmonious atmosphere. I wholeheartedly recommend indulging in the whisky flight trio experience; it's a captivating performance, whether you choose to watch the skilled staff pour or take the reins yourself. The staff's profound knowledge of whisky shines through as they meticulously expound upon its intricate notes.
As the evening drew to a close, I found myself impressed, leading me to acquire a bottle to savor at home – I suggest the 300ml peaty variant, especially if you share my penchant for it. This was an unforgettable evening for me and my wife, one that will linger in my memory, and I fervently hope to return someday to...
