Environment/ Price: A relaxing place to chill or study with nice relaxing music. On top of that, the cafe has a cute cat that roams around! air conditioning is weak. There is a minimum spending of 120 per person. There also is no time limit, from what I have seen, people just sit there and do their work quietly or chat with their friends for as long as they want. The cafe owners are pretty flexible.
There are three floors. The table on the ground floor is connected to where they brew coffee, but customers are also allowed to sit there. The second floor is the kitchen where they cook the food and prepare the cakes. It is also where the majority of tables are located. There are a lot of small tables and comfy sofa seats. Not preferable if you like seats where you can sit up right like those in the library. The seats here are mostly those comfy sofa seats and the tables are low. First floor seats would be where you want to sit then. The third floor is very small and cute. The tables are very small and it's a better area for relaxing than studying. The space is very small, yet not so squished, which is really nice.
Food: food was average; cake was good; a bit overpriced...
The egg bread was average. The portion and presentation was very nice, but the egg was a bit cold and the bread was more soggy than crispy because of the egg. Probably could've been better if they had served immediately after the egg was put on the toasted bread.
The strawberry cream cake really creamy and soft. I wanted to order other desserts, but it all got sold out, so this was my only option at the time. From what I see on their Instagram, they have a lot more desserts, so just make sure you go earlier, so you don't miss out like I did.
The matcha ice tea was fragrant and light. The matcha scent was not too light or too heavy, it was the right amount and tasted very good and refreshing.
The cinnamon roll was not bad either. The portion was nice and big, but I would have liked it better if it was served once toasted because it...
Read moreI feel bad for this establishment. It’s definitely one of the best coffee places I’ve been to (and I’ve traveled and lived in over 3 continents and have visited some of the best coffee shops around the world), but it only takes a couple terrible reviews to get their review score dragged down. So hopefully there will be more good reviews, so they can get the ratings they deserve and more accurate.
I walked in, the staff member was friendly (unlike a few reviews I read). I told them I cannot read chinese and I may need some help with my order. The woman was very helpful and sweet. The coffee was good. The decor is spacious and cozy unlike many coffee places in Taipei that like to stuff their space with as many chairs as they could. The location is basically a spacious lofted apartment. Gezeglijk!
Norah Jones playlist was playing in the background. People spoke with their indoor voice. And the crowd seems to be mostly working creative people. Again, I should emphasize how cozy the place really is. I really hope there will be more coffee spots like this.
Just a note, this was my first visit. I was a fan of Wilbeck’s coffee in the past whenever I visited Taipei. This shop is their reinvention of their brand. And I think they made a smart move.
A must visit for...
Read moreCozy cafe featuring pour-over coffee and freshly-baked desserts. The draw of this place is the window seating (with cushion seats) which gives the cafe its cozy atmosphere, especially on rainy days. There is also a long, communal table with power outlets for anyone wishing to work on a laptop. However, the lighting isn’t ideal for anyone wishing to get some work done.
The cafe has a minimum of 1 drink and 1 dessert, which isn’t ideal for diabetics or anyone avoiding sugar. And the desserts are only so-so. Also, the bathroom situation is a bit awkward (and unsanitary) as customers have to walk through the working kitchen to access it. Otherwise, service is great and it’s a nice atmosphere for...
