Came here for dinner and it was a good experience but far from great. The food quality was good but the service was subpar and a seriously lack of attention to detail.
I started off with a Manhattan and the chickpea and feta salad. The cocktail was made well and the salad was very nice considering Taiwan has terrible salads. Next was the shrimp bisque and foie gras. The foie was distinctly good. But, here's where service started to become an issue. I was given sparkling water instead of tap. Not a big deal but there were only 2 other tables. Not hard to remember.
Next came my main of lamb chops and a big restaurant no no. The lamb itself was well cooked and tasty but the compound butter on the side was served to me still wrapped in plastic wrap. I immediately called over a server who apologized and replaced it, but it really seemed like neither the kitchen or front of house were paying attention.
The sides of onion rings and pomme puree were good and we were brought a free order of fries for the plastic wrap issue. The asparagus was just two pieces. Should be three because even numbers look weird on a plate and it's just cheap.
The desserts were actually quite tasty. We had the red velvet cake and pecan pie. This was a relief because the desserts I had at their sister restaurant Chou Chou were terrible.
It was a decent dinner. I didn't get much wood fire flavor in my meat and they made several mistakes but tried to fix them. If someone wanted to come here I'd go with them but it wouldn't be my...
Read moreFood was mostly very good—calamari, burger, fries, mashed potatoes all delicious. Pork jowl was a bit dry and disappointing. Cocktails were solid, though they gave us a menu with seasonal cocktails but when we tried to order they said they didn’t have any of them. Which leads me to the disappointing part which was the very poor service. Some of the worst service I’ve had at a “high-end” restaurant in Taiwan. We waited forever for our drinks, the food came out randomly, at times cold, and multiple times sat on a tray 20 feet from our table for five minutes before finally being delivered to us. When my friend ordered the beyond burger with no cheese because she is lactose intolerant, they brought it with cheese, and then gave some attitude when she asked it to be switched out. My friends had to get up and serve themselves their wine on multiple occasions because the server was nowhere to be found. We ordered bread and it never came, they charged us for a latte we never ordered, they didn’t bring a steak knife for steak, and so on. You can’t charge 700+ nt for a burger and 1500nt+ for a steak and provide this sort of experience. It’s extra disappointing because we have been to Longtail before and really had such great service from the same ownership group. Hopefully it is just because they’ve only been open a couple of months, and once they get properly staffed and trained the service will be good, because the food is pretty good. Compliments to the...
Read moreThe charcoal smell is strong and stay on your clothes after leaving , maybe. The service is good and attentive. We ordered bread , it was ok!Squid tempura is good but batter is too thick and the squid is a bit dry inside, the asparagus is good and big but the romesco got no flavour and the egg is overcoooked. Steak is really average, presentation is like year 2000 and there is absolutely no seasoning on the meat. Then comes the sauces, peri peri is actually not peri peri it looks more like a kind of tabasco or mexican bottled spicy sauce, horseradish crême fraîche was actually horseradish paste without crême fraîche… Eggplant side dish is quite bad and honestly i just dont get it , fries are frozen and served with bottled heinz ketchup, all of this for 6500 ntd for 2 people(including a glass of red wine) . Very disappointing experience, will...
