When it comes to celebrating special occasions, especially birthdays, we expect an experience that is memorable for all the right reasons. Unfortunately, our recent visit here did not live up to those expectations and left us feeling quite disappointed. From the moment we arrived, the enthusiasm of the occasion was overshadowed by the quality of the food. We ordered the green curry pork, anticipating a fresh and flavorful dish, but what we received was anything but. The pork tasted old and gamey, which prompted us to express our concerns to the waitress. To our disbelief, she returned to inform us that the chef claimed there was nothing wrong with it, stating that this was simply how the pork should taste. It was hard to believe that the chef could be so disconnected from the expectations of fresh, flavorful cuisine. Things didn’t improve when we switched to chicken, which also arrived with an unappealing gamey flavor. All dishes, including the pork meatball soup, failed to impress and lacked the authenticity we were expecting. After several underwhelming unauthentic dishes, we decided it was best to simply refrain from raising our concerns with the staff any further. To add to our frustration, this was meant to be a celebratory gathering. Prior to our visit, we had called to inquire about a complimentary birthday cake. The staff assured us that they could prepare one, provided they checked the birthday person's ID. However, when the time came to remind them about the cake, we encountered further issues. After waiting over an hour, we were finally presented with a plain chiffon cake— devoid of any candles or festive decorations. It felt like an afterthought rather than the celebration we had envisioned. If the restaurant was unable to provide a complimentary cake, we would have appreciated honesty during our initial inquiry. Yet, they insisted on checking the ID for a cake that was subpar in quality. They didn't ask for id when the cake was presented and I guess they didn't bother anymore for what they had offered. Overall, our experience here was disappointing, particularly in light of the rave reviews we had read. The food lacked freshness and authenticity, and the service fell short of basic expectations. We left feeling offended and discouraged, with a resolute decision that we will not return. If you’re looking for a place to celebrate, I recommend you stay away from Pikul. There are countless other restaurants that will provide not just good food, but an overall...
Read moreIn general the ingredients used are good, in terms of the portion and size, for example shrimps or squid, or shellfish, but the respective taste in each dish varied, I mean in a good way or not so delicious way (too salty to be specific) as you could easily compare their dishes to those by other stores all providing Thai food. As in the pictures, I liked the pineapple fried rice and the salad, both of which were fresh and nice looking by appearance. Green curry chicken and pork liver were a bit slightly too salty, or maybe a result as we didn’t order plain rice which might have helped offer a better taste. Shrimp cakes were rather moderate, couldn’t say it’s great, but ok as a common Thai dish. By the way, there is an ATM inside, located at the entrance of the restroom, quite...
