On a wet afternoon I decided to try and get delivery of some Weekend Chicken. After being teased with a cancelled order, I deliberated to catch a 45 minute train to feed my poor man-child stomach. I arrived by my lonesome and was able to be quickly seated by the kitchen benchtop. Dangling my feet off the highseat I ordered my alcoholic tea (unfortunately my 31 year old brain struggles to remember if I wipe or not too) it was great! I can only imagine it was some sort of green tea however I digress, I am neither a tea connoisseur or alcoholic.
Followed closely was my choice of entrees. Some pickles and truffle fries. “Odd.. why wouldn’t the fries come at the same time as the burger”. I would soon find out that the burgers come with fries. I must have missed that on menu, or it’s just something that is assumed in Taiwan. As you can tell by now I’m a tourist and only here to enjoy good food. And enjoy good food I did. After being enticed by thicc and sauce/gravy drizzled burger, I knew I only had one choice and that was to finish both serve of chips pickles (yes another set of pickles arrived) and burger. The burger itself was balanced beautifully with what I could imagine some. Sort of gravy and mayo (??) sauce. I loved it. I would order it again on a whim. HOWEVER it should be noted that the menu here is different to that restaurant at the dome. Although expectations were already high, I was happy to say that this was not far off. I do prefer the dome variation however my fault for being a spontaneous hungry horny goblin.
After conquering my meal for (easily) 2 people I was greeted with another plate of what I could only imagine to be seitan (on the menu it looks like it is called “Taiwanese tenpura”. It was like a cheeky ode to the big fried chicken at night markets. Sprinkled with 5 spice powder and pickles it was a nice touch if I wasn’t already full. That being said this was on the house so it would have been rude to eat half of it and feed the rest to the bin.
Overall, I think the menu would benefit from a QR code to see what youre actually ordering as “hot pot chicken” isnt helpful enough to ascertain that I was going to be getting a box full of chicken wings and drum sticks. Should I have done my research or better yet asked the staff I wouldnt be complaining about this particular part of my order, as my original intention was wanting to make love to a box of take away f**g tender chicken or weekend bombers. The hotpot chicken takeaway (1000000% my fault) was quite disappointing given that I had left it to become soggy due to the piping hot chicken and condensation. I hope in time that I can come back after forgiving myself of this poor order and order the correct Weekend Chicken next time.
Thank you for the delicious meal.
PS, thank you to the “tough looking” chef at the dome Weekend Chicken restaurant for giving me pickles when the counter staff didnt understand what I wanted. You made my...
Read moreI want to like this place so bad, but I just cannot. I have tried to eat here 3 times and ordered 3 different things hoping my past experiences were just unlucky. The branding, the vibe and the pictures of the food seem great on paper.. however when I eat it, it tastes like the person who put the food together has no taste buds... I love strong flavors but this is just insane.. the spicy chicken sandwhich I ordered was cover in hot oil, Iv done several spicy food challenges but this was too much for me, it was not a good tasting spice it was just hot oil.. I could not finish it... then I ordered a chicken basket again it was just too hot and drenched in hot oil. Lastly I stayed away from the hot stuff and tried a honey lemon chicken burger, again on paper seemed amazing. I actually finished this but they put entire slices of lemons in this thing with the peel and and all.. I cannot tell you how offputting it is to take an entire slice of lemon when trying to eat a burger..
This place is always busy, so maybe they are doing something right but im a pretty easy to please guy and just cannot eat here and have given up on trying to find something on the menu that...
Read moreI recently visited the chicken bar and had quite a spread – from tendered chicken to calamari, 三杯雞 chicken, 麻辣鍋 chicken wings, and a selection of beers. The standout dish for me was their 麻辣鍋 chicken wings, perfectly cooked and infused with a delightful Mala flavor. However, I found them less spicy than expected, more on the numbing side. The portion sizes were disappointing despite ordering large portions.
On the other hand, the 三杯雞 chicken was a letdown – the sauce was overly sweet and didn't capture the authentic flavor of the dish. To make matters worse, all pieces were still bloody red inside, which was quite off-putting. The calamari was tasty, but like everything else, the portion left much to be desired.
The beer selection was a highlight, offering a variety of options to choose from. On the downside, the service experience wasn't great. Despite having a reservation, my group had to wait for 30 minutes before being seated. The service staff's approach left much to be desired.
Overall, while the 麻辣鍋 chicken wings were a hit, the inconsistent food quality, portion sizes, and service issues were notable drawbacks during my visit to the...
