Let me just say I wish I could vomit it out so I can enjoy my lunch elsewhere, ordered lunch set B for 2 people.
Entree was some sort of plum drink which tasted okay.
Main courses were mediocre at best, presented nicely, however that's where it ends. The noodles with cucumber and sesame sauce made my wife lose her appetite and I understood as soon as I tasted it myself, imbalance of all the flavours and just ended up tasting like bitter sesame sauce + noodles. Sadly could not order the curry rice as they said they had run out, seems like most good reviews correlate with ordering curry rice.
Ordered both options for soup, both very bland and lacking much umami/flavour. Tomato base soup was actually OK, but still quite plain.
Staff had some very strange vibes and mannerisms making us feel quite uncomfortable the whole time. Young boy was quite pleasant and bubbly, but the rest not so much.
You end up being a little lost when you enter the venue, walking downstairs it is not obvious where you should be going and seems empty for a while until you actually walk around and try find a staff member yourself.
Ample space in the dining area but I can't say many good things about the decor. Feels very tacky, like someone with money left random paintings and decorations around without any direction for design and aesthetic. Place did not feel inviting or warm at all, and quite obvious that they are trying very hard to appear superficially/artifically high class but lacking any substance beneath the surface.
Not many redeeming factors considering the price point as well, you can find a much more pleasant dining experience in Taiwan for a fraction...
Read moreThis is a much more upscale environment than the former Meimen location in Ximen but it's a step back in food and four steps back in terms of service. I've visited the new location twice - price point is a bit high but, like I said, it's a nice environment so that's to be expected. Service is seriously lacking. I actually needed to order three times because each time the dish I selected was "not available" today though it took 10-15 minutes in between orders for them to come out and tell me this. Food, which was good, took nearly an hour to come out and dishes came out spaced far apart.
I was going to mention this upon paying the bill but a friend informed me that the waitstaff and likely everybody in the kitchen was working for free in order to volunteer their services to the restaurant owner who is a well-known teacher of qigong which is an interesting business model but one I'm not sure I...
Read moreThis vegetarian restaurant is located in the basement, so you have to go down a flight of stairs from the entrance on the first floor. The restaurant is bright, spacious and quiet. The servers are friendly. You help yourself to tea from the tea station. They don’t charge a service fee.
We have been back several times. We have tried a few different dishes. They are all good but we really like their curry and potato wedges/fries. The potatoes are crispy but not oily at all. They go perfectly with the curry. The dumplings have great texture and fresh skin. All the dishes we have tried are healthy, lightly seasoned and not greasy. The price is really quite reasonable...
