Mala Hot Pot Taipei Gongguan — Restaurant in Zhongzheng District

If you're reading this review then you need to stop reading and go eat this amazing hotpot. You only have 2 hours. Trust me when I say 2 hours won't be enough.

They have everything. Everything. Right from needs slices (best meat in the restaurant), chicken, lamb, pork, scallop, fish, prawns, mussels, and every kind of sea food you can think of. All of them were super fresh. Loads of veggies to choose from and different fruits as well.

The mala soup was very different from the HK or Mainland China version. It didn't have the oil floating on top of it nor did it have the Sichuan pepper corns or red chillies floating as well. Light on the tummy and very very good.

On top of this, they also have local factories like braised pork, mapo tofu, etc. There are noodles or rice to choose as carb accompaniment.

And not to mentioned the free flow alcohol and cocktails. We tried almost all of the 18 flavors.

The staff had to come and tell us that our 2 hours were up and we walked out after paying the bill. 5/5 would definitely return if we come...

This place is AMAZING! The staff is friendly, the variety of food (esp seafood) is crazy!!!! The beef, pork and chicken is free flow as well but you will have to order from the server.

This was the last meal before I flew back to Singapore. And dam, did I wish I knew of this place earlier. Would probably have included another 2 more meals here in my itinerary..

It is so worth it! I think per pack was about 550 NTD. But the amount of food here... is really worth it.

They even have free flow drinks (beers and bubble tea included), free flow desserts and Haagen Dazs ice cream!

The only down side for this place is that we are limited to 2 hrs dining time. And they will remind you that your time is almost up. This you couldn’t stay for long.

And of course as this place is a hot pot place, your shirt will smell a little, after the meal.

All in all, super worth it, will come again...

This place is amazing amazing! The value for money is impressive, especially with the unlimited drinks and variety of meats. If you're not picky about the type of meat, I'd recommend going for the cheapest option. While I felt the cake selection could use some improvement, the ice cream was excellent!

If I recall correctly, you can only order up to 2 trays of each type of meat, with 5 types of meat in total for each order you send to the kitchen. After which, there is a in-app 5 minute counter before you can order your next few trays of meat. I think it’s fairly reasonable and they also let you know an hour before your eating...
