Wow. I've eaten at about a dozen different ethiopian restaurants in 4 different countries and this place was hands down the best. It was so good I had to come back a second time in 2 days to order the same thing to see if they were consistent and I'm really happy to report that they were. I highly recommend the Mahberawi (all meat combo) number 4. - beef 7, lamb 4 chicken 2 with a side dish of chicken 4.

The food comes out quicker than I've ever seen at an Ethiopian place. The waiter was personable and polite and overall the experience was great. The place itself is pretty straightforward, no frills. The music is great but the food. The food is amazing. I cannot recommend this place enough and actually got lucky/was bless to spot it on the map just a few days before we left stonetown.

Ah, almost forgot. My wife has a serious love hate relationship with Injera, specifically she is very sensitive to injera with a strong or fermented taste. She loved the injera they prepared here both...

We arrived to see a couple complaining about being extorted as they had US dollars only to pay and decided to eat here anyway. We had a good but somewhat expensive meal here and were ready to leave this evening when we were presented with our bill. We had been assured we could pay it with our credit card. Then we found out that a surcharge of 5% was added to the bill, mind you without any mention of this before by anyone or this being written anywhere. We then proceeded to try to pay even with this charge, and the machine did not work. The owner then told us we had to pay in the limited cash we had, and when we told her that it was better to pay in euros or USD gave us completely unfair rates despite this being her error rather than ours. She basically forced us to pay a massive surcharge without acknowledging any of her responsibility here.We ended up paying more than 15$ than what we owed just to quell the nuisance. The owner is completely unprofessional and we would advise no one to go to...

Authentic dishes served in a green and serene outdoor area in a more quiet area. The avocado salad and the house specialty salad paved the way to our delicious meal. The main dishes (between 22.000 and 30.000 TZS) are made with beef, chicken, lamb and normally also fish and different types of vegetables so you can put something together that suits your taste. When we got there, they did, however, not have any fish which felt a bit weird. Also we decided not to opt for a menu when we realized that apart from fish also some other options were not available. This turned out to be good as the salads and one dish per person were really enough. We very much liked the taste and the service was nice, too. So a...

Abyssinian Maritim has a very extensive menu of Ethiopian food, including combinations of individual dishes. It also sells local (Tanzanian) beers - though none from Ethiopia. Rather than go for a combination, after speaking with the waiter, we decided on the yemisir wot (cooked lentils) and doro wot (dark, spicey lentils with boiled egg and chicken) as single dishes - all served on a injera. I've been to lots of Ethiopian restaurants from Helsinki to Addis, and the food here was REALLY good - eaten with a Safari beer and Ethiopian honey wine - it came to around Tsh 70,000. RECOMMENDED!

A Must-Try Ethiopian Dining Experience. They offer an incredible journey into Ethiopian cuisine. The moment you walk in, you’re greeted by a warm, inviting atmosphere. Vegetarian options, such as misir wat (lentil stew) and gomen (greens), are equally impressive. The food is fresh, vibrant, and cooked to perfection. Don’t miss the traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony, a true highlight. The staff is knowledgeable and welcoming, ensuring you feel at home while exploring new flavors. If you’re seeking an unforgettable cultural and culinary experience, it is a must-visit!
