Zava house stone town — Hotel in Shangani

We booked this place through Booking.com after trusting the photos, reviews, and description — but the reality was a complete nightmare. The rooms were in a terrible condition: broken beds that moved when you sit, filthy walls, no water provided, and they even refused to give us a blanket. The place was nothing like what was shown online.

We were traveling with family, and the moment we saw the room, we told the property manager we could not stay. Despite not even checking in, they refused to refund our money. Instead of enjoying our trip, we were forced to rush and find another place to stay at the last minute — all because of this horrible experience.

To make things worse, Booking.com has been completely unresponsive despite multiple attempts to contact them through their support.

I have attached images so people can see the reality for themselves. I strongly advise others to avoid this property at all costs. It’s a scam, and they clearly don’t care about guests, hospitality, or even basic...

Zava house - exceptional value for price paid even though breakfast not served. Highlight was the friendly , warm and helpful staff, great location and quiet easy to sleep, walkable to major sites. The manager Shafii from Mafia Island was especially friendly and polite, he even allowed me to pick a room as I arrived as first guest on the day and gave advice on direction of shops, sites and atms, and said use of fridge for guests in kitchen and replaced broken bulb in my room after I reported it. Great location and quiet easy sleeping Walkable to major sites.Wifi available. Nice double bed. Daily cleaners to clean room. 15 min walk to the beach and freddie mercury museum. No sign by Vuga Roundabout hence difficult to find hotel recommend they put one so easy to find. No air-conditioned so gets hot but...
