A Family of 3.

Nestled in the heart of Bangkok along the Chao Phraya River, Praya Dining at Praya Palazzo offers a truly enchanting dining experience that blends Thai heritage with contemporary elegance. Here’s a detailed review based on my recent visit:

Ambiance (5/5): Praya Palazzo, a charming boutique hotel, sets the stage for Praya Dining with its historic Thai architecture and lush riverside gardens. The restaurant itself exudes sophistication and tranquility, featuring elegant décor that pays homage to Thailand’s cultural richness. The riverside terrace offers breathtaking views of the Chao Phraya River, making it an ideal spot for a romantic dinner or a special celebration.

Service (5/5): The service at Praya Dining is impeccable. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted warmly by the staff and led to our table with genuine hospitality. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and provided insightful recommendations, ensuring that every aspect of our dining experience was attended to with care and professionalism.

Food Quality (5/5): The culinary offerings at Praya Dining are nothing short of exceptional. We savored a variety of dishes that showcased traditional Thai flavors executed with a modern twist. Highlights included the Tom Yum Goong, bursting with spicy and tangy flavors, and the Gaeng Phed Ped Yang, a rich and aromatic red curry with tender roasted duck. Each dish was meticulously prepared using fresh, high-quality ingredients, leaving a lasting impression of authenticity and refinement.

Presentation (5/5): The presentation of the dishes at Praya Dining was exquisite, blending artistic flair with meticulous attention to detail. Each plate was a masterpiece, beautifully arranged to enhance both visual appeal and anticipation of the flavors to come. The use of vibrant colors and garnishes reflected the restaurant’s commitment to creating an aesthetically pleasing dining experience.

Value for Money (4/5): While dining at Praya Dining comes with a higher price tag, the experience, ambiance, quality of food, and attentive service justify the cost. The portions are generous, and the flavors are outstanding, making it a worthwhile investment for those seeking an unforgettable culinary journey in Bangkok.

Overall Experience (5/5): My experience at Praya Dining exceeded expectations on every level. From the serene riverside setting to the impeccable service and outstanding cuisine, every detail contributed to a memorable dining experience. Whether for a special occasion or a desire to indulge in refined Thai cuisine, Praya Dining at Praya Palazzo delivers an unparalleled gastronomic adventure.

Conclusion: Praya Dining at Praya Palazzo is a hidden gem in Bangkok, offering a luxurious retreat where Thai culinary traditions meet contemporary refinement. For those looking to immerse themselves in a culinary journey enriched by history and elegance, Praya Dining is a must-visit destination that promises to leave a lasting impression of Thai hospitality and...

My partner and I recently enjoyed a delightful dining experience at Praya Dining. We booked a two-person set menu for 1,700 baht, excluding service charge and tax. To reach the restaurant via public transportation, you can take a ferry from Tha Pra A Thit near Khao San Road. For those arriving by car, there is parking available at a temple on Soi Sam Sen 9. Upon arrival at the pier, a hotel representative promptly arranged for a boat to pick us up, which took approximately 10 minutes. The subsequent 10-minute boat ride provided a scenic view of the river.

On the day of our visit, Bangkok's air quality was decent with a cool breeze. The staff, both on the boat and at the restaurant, were exceptionally polite and attentive, reflecting the elegant ambiance of the old Thai noble house.

For our meal, we selected two curries: 'Crab curry with Piper Sarmentosum' and 'Spicy roasted duck curry'. We also ordered 'Grilled seabass salad'. For dessert, we chose 'Som Chun'. Every dish was delicious and authentic, with well-balanced flavors. While the crab curry might not have been as fiery as a traditional southern Thai version, it was still very satisfying. The roasted duck curry was rich and flavorful, typical of central Thai cuisine. The salad was refreshing and spicy, especially when paired with the Piper Sarmentosum. Surprisingly, we both enjoyed the dessert, which as a sweet fruit with peanuts and kaffir lime zest. The combination of sweetness and citrus oil was refreshing and delightful.

We were so full that we had to take some food home. Considering a two-person meal of this quality with the included 20-total-minute river boat ride, I believe the price was very reasonable. We were extremely impressed by the...

Disappointed to say the least. This was my third night at a Michelin star Resturant in Bangkok and it was by far the worst. To start the website advertises the Resturant “guides guests through the history of Thai cuisine, from the ancient Kingdom of Sukhothai until now”. When we arrived we learned it was an a la cart menu and had to order by the item. The prices are good (280-380 bht), but the portions are so large that you can’t sample a dish from every time period. This Resturant would do much better as a tasting menu serving small dishes from every time period. The waiter spoke decent English which was also surprising because they were unable or unwilling to give any guidance or explanation about the dishes we were eating and that was the main draw of the Resturant. To make matters worse, getting to the Resturant was no easy task. We were told to meet at a pier to get a boat to the hotel but when we arrived the pier was closed which the hotel seemed surprised by this. They made us wait 15 minutes until someone came to get us and then they walked us through what I can only describe as a Thai ghetto that is located next to the hotel. We were walking through peoples open aired living rooms as they shuffled us to the Resturant. It was a very strange customer service experience for a 5 star hotels/Resturants management to choose for us. It just added to the disappointment of the whole experience. Undeniably the food was good and one can see that they have a star from elevating traditional Thai dishes. But it’s also possible there standards have slipped and they are no longer as good as they once we’re. I don’t think I would return to Praya on...

After a day in the city, my wife and I made an impromptu reservation at Praya Dining. We headed to the Phra Arthit Pier and called the restaurant. Quickly their private boat was dispatched across to transport us to the boutique hotel that houses the restaurant. Our first impression was of the special attention we received. We chose our table among the dozen or so in the historic building. We ordered appetizers to share - spring rolls and la tiang. But first, our gracious server, Orn, delivered amuse-bouche to the table. She did an excellent job of describing each dish and making suggestions throughout the night. We learned quickly that serving sizes were more than generous! Each dish provided enough to share if desired. The Sang Wa Goon followed - King Rama V's favorite. It's a lovely combination of fresh vegetables, crispy catfish, and spicy grilled prawn dipping sauce craddled in lettuce leaves. Our mains were the Beef Massaman and deep fried Rice Prawns in red curry sauce. Tender chunks of beef and potatoes packed with flavor. Prawns covered in a touch red curry. Each dish had a depth of flavor unlike anywhere else. Bee checked in throughout the night to ensure everything was to our liking. She provided friendly conversation as our meal was concluding. When finished, our boat was waiting to take us back across. At times throughout the evening, it seemed like we were enjoying our meal at a friend's home. A gem of a home on the banks of the Chao Praya River!

Absolutely amazing! Chef Na is absolutely amazing and created such great flavors and textures with this meal. The best place I have been to in several years. Absolutely amazing. I give a lot of five stars, but I don’t typically rate places I don’t like. This is an incredible restaurant with a rich history. The food is absolutely amazing. We found this restaurant on the Michelin guide. I recommend one of tasting menu items. Chef Na created incredible flavors with the Thai regional dishes. There was nothing I did not like, as it all was amazing. This was a date night place for us and it was our best pick all year. The tasting menu has regional tastes from different (not all) regions of Thailand. The staff really appreciated our ability to speak some Thai with them and discuss the history of this location and Thailand. There is no doubt we will be back. I will also bring family and friends to this place. I provided a scan of the menu, so you can look over your preferences. I missed taking a picture of one of the dishes, but it will just have to be a surprise for you. By the way, you have to take a boat to get here. Simply call the restaurant and they will send the boat over to pier 13.
