The owner can respond all they like saying that there's a private business operating out of this pier and that prices are legitimate, I don't doubt that...but the fact of the matter is there isn't a rep from that legit boat tour company monitoring the activity that goes on at this pier 24/7. Literally all you have to do is walk out from your hotel, look either lost or look like you're trying to find a certain landmark and BAM, you'll be approached by some Thai person who speaks English, who knows a Tuk Tuk driver, who knows a long tail boat captain, and they'll package up a whole excursion package for you right there on the spot. You'll think that your Tuk Tuk driver is just driving you to this pier but no, he'll wait, he'll wait (or magically appear) 2hrs until your tour is done, he'll take you to temples, tailors, the works. And everyone will know everyone, they'll all be in on it, and all the prices at every stop along the way will be marked up, and everyone will get a cut. And your fun may likely start at this pier. Someone will meet you, they'll also speak English, they'll have zero association with the said legit boat tour business that operates out of this pier...and if you're a first timer in Bangkok who doesn't know any better, you may just give this person 1,500 THB to go on this long tail boat...you may even forget to ask how long the tour is...you get out onto the water, the Chang beer is cold, life is good, so good you don't even know you're being scammed. Welcome to...

Around 5:50pm on January 19, I took this company's boat from the Wat Arun Pier to the IconSiam Pier. This female employee yelled at my family (a 15-year-old child) and even threatened to throw her into the water. It was incredible that this could happen in the Land of Smiles, Thailand. This female employee is a racist. She is an Asian and a Southeast Asian. Why does she only dare to yell at Asians or East Asians? There were many tourists from different countries standing near the deck at the time. This female employee only dared to vent her anger on the yellow-skinned young East Asian female tourists. She didn't dare to say a word to the stronger male tourists from the Middle East standing in the same area. Hopefully the manager of this cruise company will see this review and verify the surveillance video on the ship at the time and discipline this rude and racist employee. Please remember, the female employee, that you are also an Asian, and tourists from Asia take up the vast majority of your business.

We had an amazing experience on the Chao Phraya hop-on hop-off boat tour! To avoid any issues, we booked the tickets online since other reviews mentioned scams with fake operators. The trip started at Phra Athit Pier, and from there, we stopped at various interesting locations.

Our first stop was Maharaj Pier, where we grabbed a coffee from Starbucks before heading on to Tha Chang Pier. From here, we walked to the Grand Palace and the Emerald Buddha, both must-see landmarks. Afterward, we made our way to Wat Arun, an absolutely stunning temple.

At Rajinee Pier, we decided to get a little adventurous and took the subway from Sanam Chai Station to Wat Mangkon Station to explore Ratchawong Temple and Chinatown. It was a great side trip. Later, we hopped back on the boat and made our way to the IconSiam Mall, a perfect place to relax and recharge after a long day of walking.

Pro tip: Make sure to bring enough water, as it was a humid and hot day! For just about $4.50, this boat tour was not only affordable but also an excellent way to see some of the best spots in Bangkok....
