Barbon, located on Song Wat Road in Bangkok’s Chinatown, is a bar that promises intrigue but delivers disappointment. The entrance—via a narrow corridor and concrete staircase—hints at a hidden gem, but the reality falls short. Atop the stairs, you’re met with a terrace overlooking the Chao Phraya River, yet the view is shrouded in darkness and fails to captivate. The seating, primarily bean bags scattered on the floor, lacks charm and comfort, making it difficult to appreciate any potential allure of the setting.
Service was lacklustre; the bar was eerily empty for a Thursday night, and the bartender seemed indifferent at best. Orders had to be placed at the counter, which felt transactional rather than inviting. While the beer menu was appealing, featuring a good selection of IPAs, the overall experience was far from enjoyable.
Cleanliness was mixed—while the indoor bar area was tidy, the terrace was untidy, with empty bottles and sticky counters detracting from the experience. The atmosphere was non-existent, with no music, harsh yellow lighting, and an overwhelming smell of weed creating an uncomfortable vibe.
Despite being conveniently located near Wat Mangkon MRT station, Barbon fails to justify a visit. The pricing of drinks is reasonable, but the lack of ambiance, poor service, and underwhelming environment mean there’s little value for money. Sadly, this is not a place I’d revisit or recommend to others. Barbon, for all its potential, misses the mark.

Read more🍹🍷 A nice bar on the balcony in Songwat area, located on the third floor of the cute and cozy hostel names Hostel Urby. From the bar you will have a full view of Chaopraya River with nice ambience. I recommend you to come in late afternoon when the weather is a little bit chill down.
They have many options of craft beer and cocktail. About the cocktails, as a person who has been to many cocktail bars in Bangkok. I can say their cocktails are very good. They put a proper amount of alcohol, not like other bars that they normally put 70% of ice, 20% of syrup and 10% of alcohol.
💴💳💰 The price is reasonable. Cocktail starts from 2xx(Basic cocktail)up to 450 baht.
🚄🚌🚗🚕 Easy access by MRT(Wat Mangkorn), taxi. If you come here by your own car you can park along side of the road, but be careful to check on the sign and the date(Odd or even day) which side you can park.
🚫🙇♂️👩🔬 Suggestion: Service should be improved. When I arrived and entered the bar, staffs were busy playing card without looking at us. At least, just saying hi, giving us a menu or anything should be...
Read moreA cute place on top of a hostel(?) building. Always wanted to come here and we got there quite early for drinking but was able to sit down quietly without a problem.
They split the space into a cafe section and a bar section. We chose the bar side and got a few drinks to cool down for a bit. The place was spacious and has nice balcony outside.
Though the space was clean and minimal it felt very lack of personality and intentions for a bar.
The drinks were interesting and the bartender wasn’t the most informative person. They’re knowledgable but were a little too cool for school to communicate, though they were welcoming in their own cold manner.
Might be back during night time to see how the...
