During my trip to Thailand, I made it a mission to try as many bowls of khao soi as possible, and Khao Soi Doi Nang (next to Big C Sriwong Book Center) stood out as an absolute winner!

Flavor & Quality: The broth was rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced—neither too sweet nor overly spicy, with deep layers of curry and coconut milk. The crispy egg noodles on top added a fantastic crunch, while the soft noodles underneath soaked up all the delicious flavors. The chicken was tender and fall-off-the-bone, and the pickled mustard greens and shallots provided a nice tangy contrast.

Portion & Value: The serving size was generous, especially for the price (around 60-80 THB). Compared to some touristy spots in the Old City, this felt like an authentic, local-approved deal.

Ambience & Service: The shop is simple, clean, and no-frills, with friendly staff who didn’t mind my clumsy Thai. Being near Big C made it easy to stop by after shopping.

Final Verdict: Hands down, one of the best khao soi experiences in Chiang Mai—beating many famous spots! If you want an authentic, flavorful bowl without the hype (or the long queues), Khao Soi Doi Nang is a must-visit.

First time trying Khao Soi here. I tried their beef khao soi. The egg noodles are tender, and the fried egg noodles give an extra texture to the dish. the soup is savory with a hint of sweetness from the coconut milk. the flavor is elevated when I add some lime and chilly pepper. the beef tendon and meat are very tender. Really pleasant lunch stopover. Noticed it the day earlier as I (accidentally) picked the place next door for lunch. Don’t do that. I tried the pork wanton soup which was super flavourful, well cooked and light but they mainly specialise in Khao Soi. Looks delicious but a tad too 🌶️ for me. Service is super friendly and the place is much cleaner and put together than your average Thai noodle place....
