This place gave me the worst nightmare moment in my life. I went for a hot oil massage. At the reception, the staff asked me to fill in the form. I did informed them that I have an autoimmune disease (which is absolutely not contagious at all). They prepped the room and invited me to get ready for the massage. I showered and got change. Then I informed the masseur again of my health condition. She saw some scars on my arms. Then she excused herself. A moment later, the receptionist came to escort me out saying they have a policy not to give massage to a person with autoimmune diseases. I said I am well aware of my conditions. I am fine. I have had many massages in different places. I have never been rejected like this before. I even had one with them at the same shop and another one at Makkha in a different branch in Chiang Mai. She said they just changed the policy recently. She treated me like I am disgusting. She didnât even offer me any other type of massage or anything. It was the most disgraceful moment in my life. đ˘đ˘đ˘
In response to the apology from the spa: Thank you very much for your apology and explanation. May I ask: When exactly did you started implementing the policy? I just received the treatment from your spa not long ago and I gave the same information last time. If you wonât provide service to persons with autoimmune diseases, why didnât you let me know when I was still fully dressed. Why did you wait until I had undressed to reject me? Not a question: I received the best spa experience next door at Quan Spa in the Marriott. I was an idiot I didnât come here in the beginning. The price was a bit higher but the facility and services exceeded its price and my...
Read moreHands down - one of the most worthwhile luxury to splurge on in Chiang Mai and it's at Makkha spa! It was worth every baht. From the front desk to the private room to the technique by the masseuse - everything was excellent! The 5-star rating is true!
I splurged on their package with massage & facial. If you spend 1,000+ baht, they will pick you up & drop you off in a Tesla (within short distance to the spa). Front desk speaks excellent English, greets you with tea & cookies before your treatment. Fill out a form to show areas to avoid & areas of concentration; plus picking out essential oil (jasmine was divine)! All the rooms are private with en suite shower. I was a party of 1 & was surprised with a 2-person room to myself. Guest can opt to shower before or after the treatment - with luxurious shampoo & bodywash. After the treatment, the most gorgeous mango sticky rice is served. Not the best I've had but it was pretty good. Mango was perfectly ripe & sweet, rice was so-so. (2) things I wish could be better - wish my masseuse spoke English - communication was a bit hard with a 2-hour package and we didn't speak. For the facial - no information was provided beforehand what the treatment details are. It would be nice to know what it entails. I felt so bad for showering after and washed it all off, thinking I could still reapply the moisturizer. Despite these things, experience was still phenomenal. 11/10 would return! They are often booked up, appointment is highly...
Read moreWe were there twice in a week during our stay in Chiang Mai.
We had Thai massage the first time and it was really great, from the cleanliness, to the complimentary desserts, the only feedback we had is when we lie with our face down our face are just facing the pillow (with no holes for breathing) so that part felt a little weird. Though the pricing is just slightly higher than other spas in town, we felt that it was rather good for value.
Given the good experience and there's also 20% discount on returning visit, we brought our parents back hoping to book their Thai massage again. Over the phone the girl said that there's no room for Thai massage for all of us and suggested some of us to opt for aromatherapy instead, it would have been nice if she had mentioned the drastic price difference. Though we'd much rather prefer to have Thai massage, we went ahead with the booking and gave their aromatherapy massage.
There was six of us that night and 4 of us had aromatherapy, the common feedback was that the masseuses were too soft, some said it felt like they were massaging the oil instead of them, some said it didn't hit the pressure point at all. For Thai massage, one of the feedback was the therapist was rough but the pressure point wasn't accurate and it almost felt like a torture. I found myself quite lucky to have the same therapist who was very good in Thai massage.
All in all, only 5 out of our 10 massage experience with them was great. It's a...
