Indish restaurant bar and grill was highly recommended by one of our foody friend who lived in Chiang Mai. Out of many Indian restaurants I have visited, I can say that this is definitely the best Indian restaurant so far. The restaurant offers a variety of authentic Indian food that is not only well presented but rich in flavour, so if you're looking for something different during your visit in Thailand, come here.
In total my group of 6 spent 2,630 baht on food. Ranging from the different curries which were all different and unique in its own ways. To the pani puri and mango lassi. A highlight dish that I recommend from my visit is the Afghani chicken tikka and the Mutton Rogan Josh. The flavour of these dishes blew me away. The meat were tender and the lamb were well made. I scraped up every drop of the sauce with the Garlic Naan which paired well with all the dishes, great meal would definitely come back for more the next time I come back to Thailand.
The restaurant is located right in the middle of Chiang Mai, the restaurant was quiet and perfect for our party of 6. It's no fancy restaurant full of decoratives but don't let that fool you because as I've stated, the food was amazing and you would regret not coming. The owner and chef AJ cooked stunning food at a pretty fast rate and he tells us that his food is free of MSG and sugar. His staff were friendly and served us with a smile which was a highlight to my night. One tiny downside would be the toilet access which is in another building across the road. However if you are eating with your hands, don't worry as they have a hand wash station right in the restaurant.
To anyone wanting to have a taste of authentic Indian cuisine in the heart of Chiang Mai. You have to come to Indish Restaurant...
Read moreFirst of all, I am Indian, so I know my Indian food! I was recommended to try this place and I have to say was extremely disappointed. It was 3pm and there were no other customers We ordered mango lassis and these were simply iced water with a bit of mango thrown in. NOT mango lassis. They seemed to have run out of yoghurt but still served us these and refused to admit they were out. I told them they were not good and they charged us 70 baht each for awful tasting lassis. Next the food. My husband ordered Chicken Kadai and I ordered a spicy Veggie Korma. I ordered a roti and my husband ordered a plain Naan. There was NO difference between the 2 bread offerings except for the flour used. And when I asked them about it the girl told me they were different because of the flour. I am not an ignorant tourist so this kind of pee'd me off. Roti is thinner and naan is usually bigger. The portions were absolutely tiny! Like 2 spoons! The only reason I have given a second star was because the taste of the main dishes was good, but the portions were too small for what we paid. Plus the table was swimming in ants! 455 baht for a meal which left us still hungry.
Instead of addressing the issues, the owner posts: “Thanks for your review;” months later. Definitely not good enough.
Curry Express (which isn’t far from here) is soooo much better. Better portions and...
Read moreI am reviewing this place as an Indian who eats this kind of food regularly back home. This restaurant serves very basic, very average food. I ordered biryani (a rice dish ALWAYS seved in a bowl with something to keep it hot. My biryani came on a plate and when asked, the waiter told me, "this is how we serve it here" Predictably my biryani went cold in 2 minutes. I also ordered raita (a yogurt based dish with cut vegetables in it. My raita was just curd and onions and cucumber? No raita that I know of is served without some masala Amchoor/chat masala as garnish. Also no raita is served without a cilantro garnish of some sort.
AVOID this restaurant, this is nowhere near being a representative of good Indian food.
Looking at the restaurant's responses to some of the feedback other customers have given, I'm sure the owner will have something snarky to say about my review as well. My advice to the owner, stop going after people who criticize your food and make an actual effort to improve your food .
If you're looking for good Indian food, there are several great Indian restaurants in Chiang mai, where your money is better spent. **Update: I was right about the snarky response to my review from the owner. Thank you for proving my point and confirmation that this is a place to be avoided...
